Carolyn is the principal and founding director of Middleton Gardiner & Associates. A solicitor with more than 20 years experience as a private legal practitioner working in city law firms and more recently in the inner west of Sydney. Unlike many solicitors of her vintage, Carolyn chose not to work exclusively in specialised areas but embraced the challenge of general practice. Practising in the areas of commercial law, property law, Wills and estates, family law, administrative law and commercial litigation allowed Carolyn to accumulate broad legal experience and develop the fundamental skill set of a lawyer. After three years in general practice, Carolyn practised predominantly in commercial litigation before the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court of Australia for several years. Having a background in general practice served her well in the analysis, preparation and conduct of her clients' cases. Her caseload included equitable claims, contractual disputes, competition law, common law, building and construction, and family provisions claims. All the while Carolyn kept her hand in general practice by providing legal services to a dedicated group of clients. As the principal of Middleton Gardiner & Associates, Carolyn draws on her extensive experience to deliver quality legal services to individuals, businesses and non-profit organisations. Carolyn is a public notary and provides notarial services as part of her legal practice.
