In 1938, as America was recovering from the Great Depression, the employees of Inland Empire Paper Company founded what is known today as Spokane Media Federal Credit Union. The original mission of the credit union was to encourage savings and grant members easier access to money for use in emergencies. SMFCU expanded its field of membership in 1973 to include radio, television and newspaper employees. Because we are a federally chartered institution, we adhere to guidelines that ensure our exclusivity.
