Adam Frankling

After gaining his degree in Business and Management and Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, Adam spent nearly 20 years in business development and marketing roles in the construction industry. Following a further three years in management consultancy, helping clients focus their strategy, leadership and engagement, Adam is now Performance & Quality Director for a national construction and engineering business. In addition, he has spent 12 years on the Board of a local educational trust, three of which as Chair.

Anne Brookes

Job Titles:

Anne has enjoyed a long and successful career in both retail and private banking and currently heads a wealth management business in Birmingham. Anne has latterly focused on the investment and lending side of banking and manages a team of bankers and investment managers along with a portfolio of her own clients. Whilst Anne still works full time, any free time is spent walking or gardening.

Dav Bagary

Dav is a highly experienced GP working within our local community. Dav specialises in learning disabilities and autism and has extensive experience of working on Boards and Committees. He knows Compton very well and is keen to support in expanding our services.

Denise Burkett-Stus

With a career spanning some 40 years and having recently retired from a leadership role in the financial services sector, Denise is a senior business leader with deep knowledge and experience in all areas of a business and how to drive transformation to deliver continued success.

Dr Fran Hakkak

Job Titles:

Dr Fran Hakkak is a consultant in palliative medicine. She trained in London at King's College and the London School of Economics and worked at the Royal Marsden and St Christopher's Hospice before moving to the West Midlands for specialty training. Fran first worked at Compton as a registrar in 2005. She became a consultant in 2009 and then Medical Director at Compton in 2018. Fran's professional interests include respiratory palliative care, psychology, equality diversity and inclusion, and leadership. In 2021 she became a graduate of the Nye Bevan Programme with the NHS Leadership Academy. Fran is passionate about supporting multidisciplinary teams to provide excellent holistic care for patients and families regardless of diagnosis and setting, and working collaboratively across systems to develop services that meet peoples' needs.

Gary Burke

After studying Business and Economics Gary started his career in the aircraft industry working in Product Support. In 1981 Gary established the highly successful Burke Bros Moving group, the company has since expanded acquiring several other companies throughout the West Midlands and now includes industrial and private properties.

Helen Hibbs

Helen worked as a GP in the Wolverhampton area and has had a long and positive relationship with Compton Care.

James Elliott

James has been involved in Fundraising and Marketing within the third sector for over 20 years; a passion that developed from volunteering with local charities and witnessing at first hand the crucial support they provide. Starting out as a regional fundraiser building relationships directly within the local community, James became a talented multi-disciplinary fundraiser who has managed high performing teams delivering growth across all income streams. Over the last 10 years, as well as rising to leadership roles within Fundraising and Marketing, James has established key skills, knowledge and experience which have helped to develop key organisational strategies and communications, policy and public affairs plans. James has experience working for a wide range of charities where service provision has included health, support, care and education. He has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work for both small regional charities and large national organisations such as the Alzheimer's Society, the RNLI, MacMillan Cancer Support and Acorns Children's Hospice. James joined Compton Care in March 2021 having spent the previous three years growing the annual income of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation UK where he was Director of Fundraising.

Jim McKinnon

Jim has wide experience gained at many levels in a variety of global roles during a lengthy career with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Jim has held senior finance and IT roles within the UK organisation, including Treasurer, Plant Controller and General Credit Manager, all of which also included extended European management responsibility.

Julia Holden

Julia is a semi-retired Solicitor, working part as a consultant and as a Judge on the Oxford and Midland Circuit. She became Managing Partner of her law firm in the late 1980s. Her legal experience as a solicitor is wide, but predominantly in the fields of insurance law and large and complex personal injury.

Linda Pascall

Linda is a registered Nurse, active coach, teacher and mentor. She has held a number of senior nursing roles within the NHS and has extensive professional training and experience.

Rachel Overfield - CEO

Rachel has worked for Compton Care for 4 years; originally as the Director of Nursing and more latterly, as the CEO and Director of Nursing, and since January 2024 as the CEO. Rachel has been a qualified nurse for 40 years. In the early part of her career she worked within many different specialties including oncology and palliative care as a specialist nurse. She was a senior nurse in head and neck, trauma and orthopaedics and oncology before moving into Director Roles. Rachel was appointed as a deputy Director of Nursing in Worcester in 1997 and went on to lead the transition of clinical services into the new Worcestershire hospital in 2002. Appointed as Director of Nursing in Worcestershire in 2004 Rachel went on to hold Director of Nursing posts in three other NHS Trusts over the next 15 years including trusts in Birmingham, Leicester and Walsall. Whilst in these posts Rachel also held the portfolios for governance, estates and workforce. In 2017 Rachel was given the opportunity to work in Dubai, UAE as the Chief Nursing and Operational Officer at The American Hospital, a large private hospital in the centre of Dubai. She stayed in this post for two years gaining invaluable insight into other cultures and private healthcare provision. Returning back to the UK in 2019 Rachel was keen to continue to work outside of the NHS, developing her own knowledge of other healthcare provision and also sharing her experience with non-NHS providers. She considers herself to have been very lucky and privileged to have been appointed as Director of Nursing for Compton Care which she commenced in September 2019. Rachel led the organisation through the pandemic and acted into the CEO role when it became vacant in 2020. She was permanently appointed in January 2021. Rachel is a passionate, driven health professional and senior manager, who is totally committed to the principles of delivering excellent care in an individual and holistic way. She believes in supporting and developing the workforce and is always prepared to listen and engage with staff, volunteers, patients and their families in order to continue to grow and enhance Compton Care.

Rebecca Brown

Rebecca joined Compton in June 2016, bringing with her over 25 years of NHS experience. Rebecca qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1992 and also holds a health and safety qualification, she has worked in both clinical and corporate governance roles in both NHS provider and commissioning organisations within the Black Country and has extensive experience in governance, risk management, compliance and regulation.

Ros Keeton

Ros is an experienced NHS Chief Executive and health care leader who combines a dental background with substantial leadership experience across the full range of health and social care settings. She was Chief Executive of an NHS Partnership Trust offering mental health, learning disabilities, and substance misuse services. Ros then led the highly respected Birmingham Women's NHS Foundation Trust one of only two specialist women's hospitals in the UK. Ros is a Trustee of Hospice UK and the Chair of the Forum of Hospice Chairs (Hospice UK).

Russell Bulkeley

Russell Bulkeley qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London before moving to the Midlands where he worked in Birmingham as an audit manager for Coopers & Lybrand. Moving into the funeral industry, he joined Hodgson Holdings plc as the acquisition accountant before progressing to a group accountant role. Latterly he has spent fourteen years in various roles within Rexel (global electrical wholesalers), finishing as Head of Reporting & Compliance when the office re-located to Potters Bar. Russell joined us at Compton in March 2014 as Head of Finance and Accounting.
