Bill is a Senior NHS Orthopaedic Surgeon who joined his department in 1992 as a Consultant. He trained in surgery in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Bath.

Mr Chris Munro

Chris offers a wide range of Orthopaedic services with an emphasis on timely, high quality care. His practice has a clear focus on lower limb surgery, offering expertise in both primary and revision hip and knee replacements. Chris offers MAKO robotic surgery for total hip replacement as well as total and partial knee replacement. The muscle sparing direct anterior approach for total hip replacement is also an option for appropriate patients both robotically and manually. Other wide ranging conditions causing hip or knee pain are also managed by Chris using both operative and non-operative treatments. As well as this, he has experience in hand and foot surgery and will happily assess these conditions and offer treatments for base of thumb arthritis, overuse syndromes or tendinopathies as well as routinely managing bunions and forefoot arthritis. Chris has an active involvement in both Grampian's orthopaedic trauma service and the North of Scotland Major Trauma Centre. He regularly manages the full range of general orthopaedic trauma as well as more complex lower limb trauma. He has experience in dealing with non-union of fractures, post -traumatic arthritis and fractures around both hip and knee replacements.

Mr David Cairns is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Aberdeen, since appointment in 2008. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and trained in Orthopaedic surgery on the West of Scotland Orthopaedic rotation. He was awarded a Fellowship at Perth Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre, Western Australia in 2007. Mr Cairns is an NHS Consultant at both Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Woodend hospitals in Aberdeen. He is an honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. In 2017 he was appointed as an examiner for the Fellowship examination in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery (FRCS Tr&Orth). He is also the Training Programme Director for the North of Scotland Orthopaedic Rotation. He specialises in upper limb sports injuries and offers a variety of treatments including arthroscopic shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair, instability surgery and joint replacement. He also performs elbow and hand surgery with a specialist interest in elbow tendinopathy (tennis and golfer's elbow).

Mr L A Kash Khan

Mr L A Kash Khan qualified from University of Edinburgh medical school in 1999. His postgraduate orthopaedic training was in Edinburgh and London, and he undertook a Fellowship in Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgery in Geelong, Australia with Prof Richard Page. He worked as a shoulder and upper limb specialist in the Edinburgh Orthopaedic and Trauma Unit and the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter prior to taking up a post in Aberdeen. He was appointed Consultant to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Woodend Hospitals and practices specialist shoulder and upper limb surgery in the NHS and private sectors. His specialist interests are in shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder injuries and shoulder joint replacement. Mr Khan is active in both research and training and has been awarded a number of prizes for his work. He has published and presented, amongst other conditions, on shoulder injuries, shoulder surgery techniques, and shoulder arthritis. He as contributed to a textbook of orthopaedic surgery and reviews scientific articles for medical journals. He regularly teaches on a number of local and national courses. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, The British Elbow and Shoulder Society, and is a founder member and convenor of the Scottish Shoulder Group, a society dedicated to the advancement and teaching of shoulder surgery in Scotland. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
