John P. Cole, MD is an internationally renowned hair transplant surgeon who has also revolutionized the field through his research, development of treatment methods and instruments and speaking and teaching endeavors. Dr. Cole performs both "Follicular Unit Extraction" or FUE as well as "Strip Harvesting" (Follicular Unit Transplantation) procedures.
Dr. Cole created the proprietary CIT® method of Follicular Unit Extraction which is based on the Cole Isolation Technique (CIT). A CIT® hair transplant has superior results in greater viability of the transplanted grafts as well as patient comfort.
Dr. Cole's education and extensive work in the hair transplant field is impressive. A 1981 graduate of Mercer University he received degrees, Summa Cum Laude, in Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Cole attended on an academic scholarship from the United States Army.
Dr. Cole went on to receive his medical degree in 1985 from the Medical College of Georgia and also received a post graduate degree from the University of Missouri, specializing in internal medicine. Since 1990, Dr. Cole has specialized his focus and practice on hair transplant surgery.
Dr. Cole has been recognized not only in the United States but internationally due to his surgical expertise, but also due to his inventions of specialized hair transplant instruments. His education and experience is also shared through seminars and public speaking.
He is a member of the American Medical Society (AMA), American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS), the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), the European Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ESHRS) and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), among others. Dr. Cole served as Chairman of ISHRS and was also one of the first surgeons named a Diplomat of ABHRS where he currently serves on the Board of Directors and Examination Committee.
Dr. Cole specializes in Follicular Unit Extraction and Follicular Unit Transplantation as well as body hair transplant, plug removal and redistribution, scar revisions and body hair framing.
