MOUNT ATHOS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA

The Mount Athos Foundation of America (MAFA) was established by the American membership of the Friends of Mount Athos in 2018 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Its purpose, as defined in its Articles of Incorporation, is to advance an understanding of and provide benefit to the monastic community of Mount Athos, located in northeastern Greece, in a variety of ways. These include restoration and preservation of historic monuments and artifacts, fostering knowledge and study of the community on Mount Athos, and supporting the operations of the twenty (20) monasteries and their dependencies in times of need. In furthering this purpose, the Foundation may work cooperatively with organizations and foundations in the United States and abroad having similar purposes and interests.
