TAKE ROOT

Take Root was founded in 2002 with assistance from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and a grant from the Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention. The agency is the brain-child of Executive Director and Fulbright Scholar Melissa "Liss" Haviv, who was once an abducted child and is today considered a leading expert in the victimology of child abduction... Take Root's mission is to elevate the voice of the abducted, using the collected wisdom of former missing-children to improve the missing child response. We add data and testimony from primary victims to public and policy discussions on child abduction... Take Root offers a uniquely informed child-centered approach to child-abduction issues. Landmark findings and watershed insights from our ground breaking Peer Support Program for former missing-children are distilled into resources for impacted families, response professionals, and the public through our Child Abduction Studies..
