Ian has been advising on corporate/commercial legal matters for 30 years. He trained in the City of London at Nicholson, Graham & Jones (now K&L Gates) and qualified into its corporate department in 1992. Since then Ian has advised on a broad mix of corporate and commercial legal matters for businesses of all sizes, across many different industry sectors, in both the UK and around the world. Ian has worked at London firm Nabarro, US firm Paul Hastings and in 2004 established his own boutique law firm, Starr & Partners, with a small group of other City lawyers. Jane Havergal

Jane joins Paddle & Cocks with 35 years' experience in the City of London as a commercial property and property finance lawyer, including eight years' post qualification at Clifford Chance, partnerships from 1998 -2015 at Pritchard Englefield and Thomas Eggar LLP, consultancies from 2015 at Thomas Eggar, Irwin Mitchell and Setfords, and an ongoing role as principal lawyer at the City of London Corporation advising on high profile property and infrastructure projects. The Legal 500 2015 mentions Jane as "recommended", and cites two of her transactions as the highlights of her firm's London office property offering that year, including the acquisition of a department store in Newbury and a hotel in Docklands for an Austrian hotel group. Jane speaks fluent German and, as a qualified translator, has advised many corporates and public/government bodies from the German speaking world over the years. Her commercial property experience includes property aspects of acquisitions and disposals; investment/development/project finance; corporate support; property insolvency; and commercial leases, acting for both investment landlords and occupational tenants. At Clifford Chance, Jane worked on property aspects of the 1990s privatisations of coal, nuclear and rail, and she has ongoing experience of infrastructure projects. Jane has published in German on English property law, including a book on Commercial Property Law in England and Wales commissioned by the British German Chamber of Commerce in London in 2000. Since 2000 she has given talks in German to German bankers and BaFIn in Bonn on English property security on various occasions at the invitation of the German Association of Mortgage Banks.

Justine Benbough

Justine Benbough has been a qualified solicitor for over 20 years. She joined Paddle & Cocks as a Consultant in June 2018 having been a Consultant Solicitor since 2012. Property litigation includes commercial landlord & tenant disputes, such as LTA 1954 Act advice, renewal of and opposing business tenancies, breach of lease repairing covenants, non payment of rent, dilapidations and forfeiture. She also deals with residential possession claims, boundary disputes, adverse possession, contentious trusts and co-habitation disputes. Keira Rawden

Keira has a wealth of commercial and residential property law experience gained over 20 years. Kristy is our Data Protection Officer. She has had a multi-faceted law career. She is a dual-qualified lawyer (BC, Canada and England and Wales) and first began her law career as a criminal prosecutor in BC. For nine years, Kristy prosecuted all types of offences in both Provincial and Supreme Court. Kristy moved to the UK in 2001. In 2011, she qualified as a teacher and taught A Level and degree level law for five years. Kristy obtained her Master of Laws degree in 2014. In 2016, Kristy left teaching and moved into the world of data protection. She is an expert in GDPR and the Data Protection Act. Kristy completed the Qualified Lawyer Transfer scheme in 2019 and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2020.
