Alistair Pattinson

Alistair graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Australia in 2010 and went on to complete a Master of Medical Radiations specialising in Radiation Therapy from Monash University in 2013. Alistair was employed as a Radiation Therapist for over 7 years at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he gained an interest in Stereotactic Radiotherapy. He has three years' experience in CyberKnife® treatment planning and delivery, staff training, and has been involved in many quality improvement initiatives.

Ben Hug

Ben studied physics at Curtin University completing a Bachelor of Science with Honours majoring in Physics in 2010 before transferring to UWA for post graduate studies. In 2012 Ben started as a trainee Medical Physicist at Perth's Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) Department of Radiation Oncology and completed his clinical training in 2016, achieving certification of Certified Medical Physics Specialist in the Radiation Oncology discipline. Ben's expertise in CyberKnife® and the field of Stereotactic Radiosurgery includes small field dosimetry, treatment machine and planning system commissioning, robot and x-ray source quality assurance, advanced tumour tracking quality assurance and treatment delivery verification.

Ben Yap

Ben Yap B MED RAD (RADIATION THERAPY) Planning Manager Ben graduated with a Bachelor in Medical Radiations specialising in Radiation Therapy from the University of South Australia in 2005 and completed a Diploma of Management from North Metro Health Service in 2015. Ben was employed as a Radiation Therapist for over 13 years at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) as a cancer service provider in Radiation Oncology. He has held and covered various supervisory positions including Research, Treatment Planning, Planning Education and Treatment Delivery. Ben focused on Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), including Framed and Frame-less techniques and has been involved in the implementation and development of CyberKnife® at SCGH, with specific focus on protocol development, staff training and treatment planning and delivery.

Caris Gillespie

Caris Gillespie B Med Rad (Radiation Therapy) Lead Treatment Therapist Caris graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Radiation, specialising in Radiation Therapy from the University of South Australia in 2007. Caris worked in Radiation Oncology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for over 12 years. Her time there was spent working with paediatrics, in research and implementation of new techniques, protocol writing and staff and student training. Her last few years there were in a Supervisory role running the CyberKnife® Radiosurgery machine in addition to training new staff in all aspects of CyberKnife® treatment and planning. She has found the move to 5D Clinics refreshing and enjoys being part of a small, patient-focused team

Ciara Mac Nally

Ciara studied physics at Dublin City University completing a Bachelor of Science with honours majoring in Physics in 2003 before transferring to the University of Manchester where she completed a Master of Physics and Engineering in Medicine and Biology with distinctions. Following this, Ciara worked as a Quality Assurance Dosimetrist at St. Luke's Hospital in Dublin from 2007 before joining the team at Perth Radiation Oncology, now GenesisCare, as a trainee Medical Physicist in 2009. Ciara completed this training in 2015 achieving certification as Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Specialist. With more than 13 years' experience in the field of radiation oncology, Ciara's expertise includes acceptance, commissioning and implementation of new machines, software and techniques, dosimetry, quality assurance, and treatment delivery verification. Ciara joined the 5D Clinics team in 2019 expanding this expertise to include small field dosimetry, robot and x-ray source quality assurance, and patient specific quality assurance.

Dr Eve Tiong

Dr Tiong is a highly experienced radiation oncologist. After completing her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of New South Wales, Dr Tiong established her oncology career at Singapore's National Cancer Centre and National University Hospital in 2009. She returned to NSW to continue specialist training in radiation oncology at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney and The Canberra Hospital and was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2015. She then undertook a specialist fellowship at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where she further perfected her skills. Dr Tiong has training in advanced techniques including stereotactic radiation therapy (SRS/SABR) with intrafraction tracking, MRI simulation, and image guided radiation therapy (IGRT). Her clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies, with special clinical interest in prostate cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and lymphoma.

Gemma Waters

Gemma has a background in Biomedical Science, graduating from Deakin University, Melbourne and has since completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Radiation) specialising in Radiation Therapy, from RMIT Melbourne. Gemma undertook her intern year at Perth's Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and has been a qualified Radiation Therapist since 2012. Gemma has a keen interest in Stereotactic Radiosurgery and was involved in the implementation of the first CyberKnife® facility in Australia in 2014. She has over 9 years experience in CyberKnife® treatment planning and delivery, staff training and protocol development, and has conducted quality assurance visits to CyberKnife® Centres in London and Munich.

Joshua Dass

A/Prof Joshua Dass graduated from Ireland and UK, completing specialist training in Radiation Oncology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Victoria.  He is a past examiner for fellowship exams and current senior clinical lecturer and examiner in medical school. Joshua is a member of the Particle Therapy Working Group for Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologist. Joshua is involved in national and local research trials and has been guest speaker in melanoma, sarcoma and prostate cancer symposiums and currently involved in quality improvement trials, investigator for Children's Oncology Group, USA and TROG trials.

Justin Bruning

Justin graduated with a Bachelor of Science from The University of Waikato in 2002 and went on to complete a Master of Medical Radiations specialising in Radiation Therapy from Monash University in 2007. Justin worked as a Radiation Therapist for almost 13 years at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he held Senior positions in Treatment Planning, Treatment and Pre-Treatment. He specialised in Frameless Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and went on to receive training in the United States on CyberKnife®-specific planning. Justin has enjoyed dosimetry and treatment roles in several UK hospitals including the London CyberKnife® Centre within The Harley Street Clinic, The University College Hospital of London, The Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea and The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.

Katie Pattinson

Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Radiations) from RMIT University in 2012. Katie moved to Perth in 2013 to complete her intern year at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital. After becoming a fully qualified Radiation Therapist she continued working at the department for 8 years with a specific interest in research, quality improvement projects and education of both staff and students. She has a particular focus on patient care and her interest in Stereotactic Radiotherapy stems from her desire to provide the best possible treatment to patients.

Neal Molloy

Neal completed his undergraduate studies in Physics and Information Technology in 2004 prior to commencing postgraduate studies in Medical Physics. In 2006, he commenced a Medical Physics registrarship at Adelaide Radiotherapy Centre and went on to work as a Medical Physicist for GenesisCare for 14 years. During this time, Neal was involved in supporting new and existing Radiotherapy departments and techniques across Adelaide, Perth and Sydney. Neal's interests in stereotactic radiotherapy include dosimetric modelling and verification, management of patient motion during treatment delivery and applications of artificial intelligence to assist clinical decision making.

Peter Podias

As Clinical Operations Director, Peter's role is to ensure patients are treated with respect, care and compassion plus receive state-of-the art treatment in a timeframe convenient to them. Peter's great passion is to educate and remove the mystery around CyberKnife® radiotherapy. Peter is always available to answer questions and simplify the treatment process so patients can get back to what matters most.

Rick Walther

Rick Walther BBioMed Sci. M Med Rad - RT Radiation Therapist Rick studied Biomedical Science at Monash University in Melbourne before coming to Perth to complete a Masters Degree in Medical Radiation. Completing his professional development year at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, he worked there for 13 years consolidating an extensive knowledge in a variety of radiation therapy treatment and planning techniques from Brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, Linac Stereotactic body radiation therapy and Cyberknife. With 10 years of radiation planning experience and a passion for technical advancement in this area Rick has been involved in numerous projects keeping up to date with the latest in technology to provide the best quality of care to our patients.
