Hi, I'm Laura Chavarría, a lawyer with over 15 years of experience, graduated with honors as a result of my academic dissertation based on my internships at the Central America Court of Justice in Nicaragua; I have a Master's Degree in International Law from Universidad de Chile and Heidelberg completed in 2005. Throughout my career I have gained experience in handling highly-complex immigration procedures, both for individuals and legal entities, with an outstanding resolution record of approved cases. My passion for Immigration Law, a field in which I specialize, comes to a large extent from my own experience as an immigrant, as when I was young I lived firsthand the entire process that comes from starting from scratch in an unknown country. Since 2018 I am part of the Immigration Commission of the Costa Rican Bar Association. Thanks to my well-established negotiation and leadership skills, I was certified asConciliator and Mediator of the Costa Rican Bar Association back in 2016, a certification that was qualified by the DINARAC (National Alternative Dispute Resolution Office) in March 2017. My devotion to the immigration field has been so intense that in 2020 I decided to create and coordinate the Inter-Institutional Commission of Immigration Affairs of the Costa Rican Bar Association, a commission I preside to date. As from that moment I have beenactively engaged as Chairwoman of the Commission, keeping a consistent and direct communication with senior level officers of the General Immigration Office.
