Veterans Helping Veterans Heal (VHVH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit housing program for homeless veterans in Winston-Salem, N.C. The North Carolina Housing Foundation (NCHF), in collaboration with the Veterans Administration and other key partners, created VHVH as part of Winston Salem's ongoing efforts to end chronic homelessness. Utilizing funding from a VA Homeless Providers Grant Capital Grant, VHVH opened its doors in 2012 in the renovated former VFW Post 1134. Since then, VHVH has helped 257 veterans successfully transition from homelessness and despair to permanent housing and the restoration of their minds, bodies and spirits. VHVH has also been a vital and respected member of the Winston-Salem community's ongoing efforts to end chronic homelessness, a collaboration among 10 social service agencies in the area...
