Cindy Mak

Before joining Zodiac, Cindy worked in an airline company as a customer service officer which allows her to travel all over the world and learn about the cultures of different countries. She likes working at Zodiac because she can see a lot of amazing exotic animals.

Crystal Kwong

Job Titles:

Crystal worked at a shipping company before joining Zodiac. She is in love with many kinds of exotic animals, especially parrots, since she was young. She loves to go out with her supersized Sulcata tortoise and her parrots to take the sun bath when she is not at work. Meeting lots of different animals is the reason why she enjoys working at Zodiac.

Dr. Angel Ngo

Dr. Angel graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2017 and is now working towards CertAVP in Royal Veterinary College. She then worked at the Sydney RSPCA as a Veterinary Intern for a year, looking after inspectorate, stray and private animals. She then moved back to Hong Kong to her loving family and her three beloved dogs and joined Tai Wai Small Animal and Exotic Hospital as an Emergency Veterinarian for over two years. Working mainly overnight shifts, she saw a large variety of cases and performed emergency procedures and surgeries in cats, dogs and exotic animals. She is now working in a specialist hospital and Zodiac to build up various skills to be the best version of herself for her patients! Being a veterinarian was her childhood dream come true. She loves nothing more than helping the animals under her care stay happy and healthy. Off work, Angel adores staying close to the nature, the sun and the sea!

Dr. Colin Mc Dermott

Dr. Colin McDermott achieved board certification as an ABVP Reptile and Amphibian specialist in 2021. He is also a certified aquatics veterinarian through the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After graduation, he completed a two-year veterinary internship in exotic animal medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital. He then spent two and a half years at the National Aquarium in Washington D.C. and Maryland, USA, as a veterinary fellow caring for a variety of exotic and aquatic animals. After this additional training, he worked at an emergency and specialty hospital in New Jersey, USA as an exotics veterinarian and the head of their exotics department. Dr. Colin loves working with all species of exotic animals, but has a strong interest in reptiles, amphibians and fish. He has contributed to book chapters and articles on exotic companion animals and enjoys giving lectures to veterinarians and veterinary students about these species. When he isn't working, Dr. Colin enjoys photography, traveling and exploring new places with his wife (Dr. Katie McDermott).

Dr. Joey Lam

Dr. Joey graduated from City University of Hong Kong with first class honours. Her interest in improving the welfare of stray and shelter animals brought her into veterinary medicine where she slowly developed her passion in exotics medicine and wildlife conservation. In her leisure time, Joey likes to cuddle with her dog (she wishes she could cuddle her frogs too but they probably won't appreciate it), paint and travel.

Dr. Nicole Wyre

Dr. Nicole Wyre is a double boarded specialist in both Avian and Exotic Companion Mammals through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Dr. Nicole Wyre graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in the United States in 2003. She then completed a rotating small animal internship at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in outside of Washington DC in the United States. In 2006, she completed an Avian and Exotic residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, New York. Following her residency, she became an avian specialist through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and spent three years as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. She then took her love of exotic companion animal medicine to Hong Kong where she worked at the Tai Wai Small Animal and Exotic Hospital. After spending 18 months in Hong Kong, she returned to the University of Pennsylvania to become the service head of the Exotic Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery department. In 2015, she received her certification as an Exotic Companion Mammal specialist though the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. In 2020, she became Certified in Veterinary Acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Nicole has published numerous articles and book chapters about exotic companion animals as well as giving lectures on these species. Dr. Nicole joined our clinic in January 2016. When she is not working, Dr. Nicole enjoys skiing, travelling with her husband and eating all the amazing food in Hong Kong!

Dr. Stephen Chan

Dr. Stephen graduated from National Taiwan University. After graduation, he served as a full time veterinary surgeon at an exotic pet veterinary clinic in Taiwan. He came to HongKong in mid 2020 and has worked in Maple exotic veterinary centre as a full time veterinary surgeon since then. Due to the strong interest of exotic pet medication he did his internship at Kanazawa zoo and Tokyo university in Japan, Shoushan zoo and National museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium in Taiwan. He is also running a podcast channel named "Catprint podcast" in order to share medical knowledge to more pets owners. During holidays, he enjoys cooking a fine dinner for him and his wife, and also make some desserts to share with friends.

Dr. Sylvia Tan

Dr. Sylvia was born and raised in Singapore before she moved to Australia to pursue her veterinary degree. She graduated from the University of Queensland, Australia with first class honours in 2014. She then moved back to Singapore to work as a small animal veterinarian for three years. In 2018, she decided to move to Hong Kong where she worked in a private clinic and a 24 hour welfare veterinary hospital. Although dogs and cats made up the majority of her patients, she was also treating birds and small mammals. She has developed a wide and varied experience which include managing critically ill patients in hospital, attending to out of hours emergency cases, soft tissue surgery, dentistry and abdominal ultrasound. She has also volunteered with overseas animal welfare organisations to help with desexing stray dogs and cats, as well as providing veterinary treatment to the locals' pets. Dr. Sylvia actively participates in continuing education to improve her skills and knowledge to provide the best care for her patients. She has undergone further training in small animal abdominal ultrasound, dentistry and endoscopy. Furthermore, in 2019, she was certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. In 2021, she was admitted as a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Avian Medicine and Surgery. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a strong interest in small animal internal medicine and avian medicine. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her rescue pets at home - a Yorkshire Terrier dog and a cockatiel, hiking, and travelling.

Frances Fu

Frances started her career in the veterinary industry since 2013. Her favorite part of this job is to get to know different animals. In her off days, she enjoys cuddling with her cats, Tofu and Nomi. She also loves to learn different languages and to embrace their culture. She enjoys working in Zodiac because it is very rewarding to be a part of helping pets and educating owners to provide a more enriching life for their family companions.

Heidi Chan

After completing BSC in Biology from Baptist University in 2010, Heidi became a veterinary assistant. She is qualified in AIRC Cert IV. When Heidi is not working, she enjoys travelling, watching movies and reading. Before joining Zodiac, she travelled to Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province and Tibet. She also went to Nepal as a volunteer to help to rebuild primary schools before. Heidi has a special interest in cardiology and she is an excellent surgical assistant. She enjoys working at Zodiac because she likes the variety of species that we see.

Joanna Chan

Joanna worked at a clinic and a beauty company before joining Zodiac. When she is not to work, she loves to go to different parks with her hedgehogs and let them running across the grass. Meeting different animals is the reason why she loves working at Zodiac.

Joey Loh

Before joining Zodiac as our head receptionist, Joey worked in administration and sales in Singapore. When she is not working, Joey enjoys designing and creating mini houses and their furniture. You can see her handwork first hand at the clinic because she has created the paper animals which decorate the waiting area. At home, Joey has mickey fish, but at the clinic you will frequently see her cuddling with Kelvin's dog, Scooby (AKA Ti Ti). No matter your native language, Joey can help as she is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka. She enjoys working at Zodiac because she likes seeing the variety of patients that come into the clinic.

Kelly Liu

Kelly completed the Advance Diploma in Veterinary Nursing from CityU SCOPE in 2020. After that, she worked at a dog and cat hospital for two years. She is especially interested in reptiles and avians. She enjoys working in Zodiac Pet & Exotic Hospital because she can take care of different species of animals and she finds it very meaningful as they can live a healthy and happy life. On her day off, Kelly loves to go hiking, diving, boxing and have different outdoor activities with friends.

Kelvin So

Job Titles:

Kelvin was one of the founding members of our clinic in 2014. He has been a veterinary assistant since 2004 after graduated in Australia and continued his study to become a veterinary nurse. He is the heart and soul of our clinic. Kelvin has a special interest in anesthesia. In 2011, he received the certificate in Companion Exotic Small Mammal Anesthesia. He is an excellent anesthetist for all the variety of species. In 2019, Kelvin received his Diploma of Veterinary Nursing of Zoological Species (Advanced Program in the Veterinary Nursing of Avian, Wildlife, Small Mammals and Herpetology)! He has earned the post-nominals APVN (AHMW) Dip VNZS . He enjoys working at Zodiac because he likes to be the bridge between the veterinarian, the patient and their owners to ensure that together we can design the best diagnostic and treatment plan for each patient. When he is not working, Kelvin enjoys building legos and shopping for action figures.

Kim Yuen

After completing her BSc in Agriculture from Southwest University in 2017, Kim worked at an animal hospital in Guangzhou seeing cats, dogs, and exotic companion animals. When Kim is not at work, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family including her poodle, giant gecko, and crested gecko. Kim enjoys all aspects of veterinary assistant work and has a passion for working with clients and caring for pets during all phases of their lives.

Lilly Lui

Lilly started her career in veterinary industry since 2013 and started her study in AIRC at the same time. Before that, she was majoring in translation. She has a special interest in avian and reptiles. She enjoys working in Zodiac because she could work with different species of animals. Also, she is happy to deliver proper animal care messages to owners. Cycling, driving, skateboarding and running are what she likes to do on her leisure time.

Mei Leung

Mei has been working as a receptionist in various vet clinics since 2014. She loves all species of animals especially dogs and guinea pigs. She used to have two chinchillas and two guinea pigs at one point back in Canada, it was a very fun and valuable learning experience as a first time pet parent. Mei enjoys practicing yoga on her days off for relaxation since she believes in work-life balance and living with purpose. Mei adores her guinea pig Chu Tau and enjoys watching him being naughty. Her previous pets included Chu Yeung、Chu Sum、Frank、Wallace、Chester and Jefferey.

Navid Tam

Navid has been working as veterinary assistant after his graduation of BSc in 2016. He is an idealist and a naturalist. He loves staying in the nature as well as listening to alternatives and metal music. A belief that animals have its own emotion makes him want to become an animal saver who can rescue those little creature suffering from pain and sickness. Curing a disease is not that difficult, but comforting animals and their families' heart is more challenging. Navid chose to join Zodiac because here is the place that able to cure the patients and heal their hearts by the best way.

Vanessa Lau

Vanessa is an animal lover since young. She grew up in Hong Kong and had her high school and tertiary education in Sydney, Australia. Through her journey into different fields of study (psychology in university), she has decided to be true to her real passion of working with animals and to contribute to animal welfare. Vanessa started working in veterinary field at 2015 and has been loving it since. When she is not working, she enjoys chilling and relaxing. She also likes the sea and mountains, learning languages and artistic and pretty things. Vanessa loves working at Zodiac specifically because she gets to meet and take care of a wide range of species, which adds variety and value to daily work. She believes exotic species are just as precious as all the animals.
