At a basic level, I believe that for a team to be successful, and continue to be successful, there must be an emphasis on growth. This is good for individuals and good for business. My leadership and career had always been about learning and growing for me and others... As I moved into leadership positions in my engineering career, I realized that to be an effective leader I had to inspire change. However, I quickly learned that there were people that were stuck in their careers. At some point mid-career, they stopped growing, and they were spending the last 15-20 years doing the same thing with little growth. They were good, but good wasn't good enough. It was impacting their career and the success of the business. Besides, watching someone do the same thing for 15 years, struggling with the same problems frustrated me.
