Alan Nlawi

Alan has a passion for tax. After graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2007, Alan joined PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as an Associate Tax Consultant, a position that exposed him into a wide range of tax matters and saw him promoted to a Senior Tax Consultant in short period of time. In pursuing his dream as Tax Consultant and Tax Litigant, Alan later joined Ako Law in 2011, a law firm affiliated with Clyde&Co. where he was involved in handling high-profile tax advisory and complex litigation matters in Banking, Mining, Telecommunication, Oil and Gas, Insurance to name but few. With Ako Law, Alan rose from a Legal officer to a Legal Director and later to Managing Partner. Among other writings and presentations, Alan has also co-authored a book titled "Tax Dispute Resolution - Manual for Tax Practitioners". When it comes to tax advisory, consultation and representation, Alan is unmatched and greatly acknowledged by local and multinational companies as well as his peers.

Caster Lufungulo

Caster is dynamic lawyer who has been groomed and nurtured the B & E Ako way since July 2020 when she joined the firm. She holds a bachelor's degree from Tumaini University (Makumira) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania. She has already proven to be quite reliable to the firm as demonstrated by how ambitious, and committed she is, making her a valuable member of the team. Her proficiency lies in Dispute Resolution, Employment and Labour Related Law, insurance matters, Probate and Administration of Estates as well as Conveyancing. Prior to joining the B&E Ako Law family, Caster worked with Albert Msando Practise where she was actively involved in other key fields like Banking, Business Law, Tax, Employment, and Intellectual property.

CHITI NG'ANDU

Miss Ng'andu is the Firm's Registry officer. With her background in Law, she stores, catalogues, maintains and retrieves all our documents be it in paper files, electronic files, and databases for all the firm's departments. Chiti has proven more than capable in ensuring complete confidentiality, document archiving, recovery and the upkeep of an excellent record management system for the Firm. Prior to joining the B & E Ako Law, she worked as a Legal Assistant at Maeda & Associates where she garnered fundament experience in Corporate Matters, Record keeping and management as well as Office Administration.

Dennis Mworia

Prior to joining the B&E Ako Law team in late 2020, Mr. Mworia worked with several reputable law firms like Law Access Advocates and H & M Attorneys at Law under the close supervision and guidance of their partners. His speciality lies in the fields of commercial law and dispute resolution, where his aim is always to meet our clients' needs expediently and comprehensively by working closely with our Senior Associates and the rest of the team. He is intuitive driven, ambitious and has already proven to be a valuable addition to the team. Dennis is also an active member of Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.

Florian Frances

Florian is a key consistuent of our young and upcoming lawyers team that is being groomed and nurtured the B & E Ako way. He holds a bachelor degree from Mzumbe University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law school of Tanzania. His proficiency lies in the fields of dispute resolution, corporate law, employment and labour relations, family law, probate and administration of estates as well as conveyancing. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and Elite Attorneys. Florian has proven to be quite reliable in assisting the Firm's Senior Counsel on legal research in many of the areas of practice that the Firm specializes in, thus further molding him into an all-rounder lawyer.

Gloria Mugelle

Gloria manages the Firm's HR, Operational and Management needs. Having worked with Brevis Attorneys for almost 4 years prior to joining the firm, and with a background in business Administration; it goes without saying that Gloria has acquired all the nits and grits of what it takes to successfully cater to the administration needs of all our lawyers. She also manages our supporting (background) staff and is always prompt in ensuring that the day to day administration needs of the Firm are available and running smoothly.

Godwin Nyaisa

Godwin has a Bachelor of law degree and a Master's degree in Corporate and Commercial Lawfrom the University of Dar es Salaam. He is a Partner at B & E Ako Law, after working as a Partner with Epic Law Partners for four years, which he co-founded. Prior to forming Epic Law Partners, Godwin worked with Mark & Associates Attorneys. His practice focuses on litigation and arbitration of commercial disputes, cooperate banking, debt recovery, insurance, capital investments, shareholder class actions and derivative cases, business torts, labour disputes and intellectual property. He has broad experience in litigation matters before the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration for Labour Matters, Commercial, Land and Labour Divisions of the High Court of Tanzania and the Court of Appeal of Tanzania. He also has extensive experience in commercial arbitrations. Mr. Nyaisa is also a qualified Advocate licensed to practice in Tanzania courts and has an experience of more than ten years of practice in Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice.

With a solid background in Dispute Resolution, Hendry is one of the Firm's prized Junior Lawyers given how driven, dynamic and energetic he is. Prior to joining the BE Ako Law family, He worked as the Head of Litigation Department for Maeda & Associates in Arusha under the watchful eye of its Managing Partner where he also garnered experience in other key fields like Banking, Corporate, Business Law, Environmental law, Employment & Labour related laws and Intellectual property. He possesses immaculate oral and writing skills for the preparation, execution and presentation of court documents and the necessary research and development tools to constantly sharpen them.

Julieth Mgendi

Julieth is working as Administration Manager at B & E Ako Law Arusha office, Julieth has proved to be competent to manage the administrative works at our office which includes running day to day activities of the office, assist in drafting and filing of legal documents and when necessary, she attends Court sessions. Previously, Julieth worked at Aymak Attorneys as well as Dar es Salaam Yatch Club (DYC) as an Administrator where she gathered vast knowledge and skills that she has. Julieth has LLB from Tumaini University (Makumira) Dar es Salaam College and later joined Law School of Tanzania where she served as a Vice President of the Students Government.

Kerry Mra

Loyce Edson

Ms. Loyce joined the firm in early 2018. She manages and caters to our Mwanza staff ‘s administration needs. She is result -oriented and has excellent communication and organizational skills that ensure our Mwanza branch runs smoothly. Prior to joining the firm Loyce worked as the Assistant Auditor of a private firm, where she garnered key accounting skills which have proven valuable to the firm's administrative needs as a whole.

Norbert Mwaifani

Prior to joining B&E Ako law, Norbert started his legal profession with Ako law as a trainee lawyer where was soon promoted to the role of an associate. Given his eagerness and swiftness to adapting, learning and taking initiatives, he was soon relied on and involved in assisting our senior counsel with legal research, drafting legal opinions, pleadings, case preparations, drafting written submissions, assisting counsel during hearings and giving legal updates. As an Associate, Norbert's role extends to actively taking part in handling complex tax matters, something which he has taken to heart and continues to do so while spreading his ingenuity to the firm's other fields.

Phillip Lincoln Irungu

With almost five (5) years of practice under his belt as a Litigant, and three (3) years as a Tax Consultant, Phillip is a dynamic and well versed lawyer.He possesses an impeccable record in Litigation as well as Employment and Labor Related matters. He also has been admitted to practice at the Zanzibar High and Subordinate Courts thus further widening his wings as a Practitioner. Phillip possesses great analytical and interpersonal skills which coupled with his qualification as an Arbitrator make him a valuable member of the B&E Ako Law family. He also has a natural ability to communicate well to audiences of different dynamics, making him a key member of our Research and Training Department. Phillip is also an active member of the Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators (TIARB).

Renatus Shiduki

Renatus has an uncanny ability to/of grasping numbers so to speak, having worked with KPMG Tanzania as their Corporate Services Advisor hence making him a valuable member of the firm. At KPMG, Renatus oversaw the firm's corporate advisory services that included, incorporating companies and NGOs, providing management and winding up services both in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. Renatus is also an active member of the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) and the East African Law Society (EALS).

Robert Mosi

Rosemary Makori

Ms. Rosemary holds a diploma in law from the Institute of Judicial and Administration (IJA), a bachelor's law degree from St. Augustine University of Tanzania, and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Law School of Tanzania. Her proficiency lies in civil litigation, conveyancing, corporate law, family law, Probate and Administration of Estates, as well as law relating to custody of children. Prior to joining B & E Ako Law as an Associate, Ms. Rosemary was an intern at B& E Ako Law in Mwanza.

Sarafina Mushi

Ms. Mushi joined the firm in 2018, under the guidance and strong wings of the Administration Manager. She manages and caters to the overall administrative needs of all the Firm's branches. Over the years she has served the Firm impeccably with utmost analytical, decision-making as well as problem-solving skills. Prior to joining the firm, Sarafina worked as a Sales Representative with a private company, where she picked up her knack for administration that continues to steadily serve the Firm's needs and endeavors.

Stephen Axwesso

Stephen takes the quarterback position as he revels exceptionally in both as a tax advisor and litigant having successfully represented top mining, telecommunication and brewing companies in the field of tax. He is also very cognizant with corporate law having garnered vast experience from working with the pioneers of the field notably Rex Attorneys (now ENS). While at Rex Attorneys, he was involved in the drafting, negotiation and execution of big transactions. He later moved and worked as an in house lawyer for the Tanzania Revenue Authority and Airtel Tanzania, then to Brevis Attorneys where he was a Partner before joining B&E Ako Law. Apart from the legal practice, Stephen also teaches at the Law School of Tanzania and conducts seminars on Taxation and Procurement Law in Tanzania.

Victor Mrema

Victor worked as a Legal Counsel for CRDB Bank Plc for over five (5) years, a position that gained him a solid reputation amongst his peers and the banking community. During this time, Victor was the bank's key internal personnel in the CRDB's IPO process. He headed CRDB's investor relations department and sat in all board meetings for CRDB Bank Plc, CRDB Microfinance Services Company Ltd and CRDB Bank Burundi and played a key role in the registration and setting up of CRDB Bank Burundi. In pursuit of his passion for business, Victor left CRDB in 2013 and went on to establish Brevis Attorneys (a corporate firm) where he served as Managing Partner for five (5) years. His passion on business growth ignited initiatives to establish B&E Ako Law. In addition to banking, Victor has immense experience and knowledge on corporate governance, business law, capital markets, securities and investment. Victor's business acumen is outstanding and our clients benefit even on non-law related matters.

Wilson Mukebezi

As is the case with his peers Stephen and Alan, Wilson revels in the field of tax law with over twelve (12) years to back it up. He has represented and litigated for major clients in various sectors varying from banking, brewery, agriculture, tourism, construction, mining and telecommunication against their various tax disputes with the Tanzania Revenue Authority and also non tax disputes in various Tanzanian courts and also acted for various not for profit organizations including setting up Trusts, Societies and other Associations. Before joining B&E Ako Law, he worked with premier law firms such as FK Law Chambers and Ako Law where he had the priviledge of working with top-notch legal/tax practitioners such as Dr Kibuta Ongwamuhana, Professor Florens Dominic Luoga and Mr Martin Nasson (a former commissioner of Tanzania Revenue Authority). With his background from FK Law Chambers and Ako Law, Wilson has immense experience in tax advisory and litigation, commercial litigation, corporate transaction work and company secretarial, arbitration, employment dispute resolution as well as advising. He is also a co-author of the book "Tax Dispute Resolution - Manual for Tax Practitioners", Mkuki na Nyota [2015], Dar es Salaam.
