Dr. Andrea Di Carli

Job Titles:
  • Research Assistant
Andrea Di Carli obtained his master degree in 2015 in Rome working on a bright source of polarization-entangled photon pairs. In the same year he moved to Glasgow where he joined the group of Dr. Elmar Haller, University of Strathclyde, as a PhD student with the goal of designing and building an experimental apparatus for generating Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) of Caesium. During his PhD, he focused his studies on atomic interferometry and matter-wave solitons. In 2019, he joined the group of Prof. Stefan Kuhr as a research associate to develop a Rubidium-87 quantum gas microscope. In particular, he worked on the dynamic control of engineered light potentials for manipulating the lattice filling of multiple arrays of 1D interacting gases.

Dr. Manfred Mark

Job Titles:
  • Research Assistant
Manfred Mark was born on 13 th September in Innsbruck, Austria. After receiving Matura/A-levels he was working four year as a business consultant in Innsbruck and Vienna. In 2002 he started his study in physics in Innsbruck, doing his diploma thesis and afterwards his PhD thesis in the ultracold quantum gases group of Hanns-Christoph Nägerl. After receiving his PhD beginning of 2012, he did a 2 1/2 year PostDoc time in the same group. He changed in 2014 as Senior Scientist to the group of Francesca. Manfred's research interests are based on ultracold atomic and molecular gases with a special focus on quantum gases in optical lattices.
