BRAZIL - Key Persons


Carson Williams

Carson Williams is a Materials Science and Engineering major, with a minor in Polymers Science and Engineering, from Grand Ledge, MI. Carson enjoys the outdoors all year round, hiking, snowboarding, wakeboarding, etc. Carson is eager to return to Brazil after visiting several years ago. His project interests include opportunities in sustainable resources and preservation, as well as technology education and improvement.

Magann Dykema

Magann Dykema, originally from Norton Shores, Michigan, is third year student at Michigan Technological University majoring in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Resourcing. After going on multiple mission trips during her high school career, she has found that her passion is in working with people around the world which led her to want to work in international aid and relief efforts. When not hard at work between school, extracurriculars, and jobs on campus, Magann can be found trying to relax by striking it up on the nearest lanes, enjoying a book while sitting at the nearest beach (when there is not snow on the ground), watching Gilmore Girls, exploring the outdoors, cheering on the Detroit Tigers, or creating memories with friends and family.

Rachel Stern

Rachel Stern is majoring in environmental engineering and has a Spanish minor. She is from Grafton, Wisconsin and has one younger brother and two younger sisters. She is interested in the areas of water treatment and supply, sustainable agriculture and alternative energy. After graduation, she hopes to work around the world on sustainability and water projects. Rachel enjoys snowboarding, running, camping, playing basketball, reading, trying new foods and photography.

Sam Willard

Sam Willard is a Biochemistry and Chemical Biology major with a Cheminformatics double major. He is from Forest Lake, Minnesota and enjoys spending time outside and learning anything and everything. Particular interests for the Brazil trip include energy and community sustainability, internet connectivity and education.
