GOLFBC - Key Persons

Alanna Deegan

Job Titles:
  • Director of Instruction
Alanna grew up in Montreal playing all sports, always trying to outdo her two older brothers. She picked up a club and decided she needed a left handed one, just like a hockey stick! She did not fully take to golf until later moving to Victoria in the late 90's. At that time she joined the Olympic View team, where she worked on the beverage cart and in the Wapiti Lounge while working on her golf game. Getting more serious, she started working in the golf shop, learning all aspects of the industry. Meeting her husband at Olympic View was no surprise to anyone! She enrolled in the Golf Program at Camosun College, and graduated top of her class in 2002. In 2003, Alanna successfully passed her Playing Ability Test and became a member of the PGA of Canada. She accepted a position as an Assistant Golf Professional at Arbutus Ridge Golf and Country Club and remained there for four years. After starting a family, Alanna transitioned to Golf Town and learned club fitting and taught lessons in the simulators for years. In 2011 she achieved her Class A status as a Golf Professional. In 2016, Alanna followed her heart back to Olympic View and has been instructing here since. Her passion involves getting kids into the game of golf, including her own children. Teaching ladies group lessons is one of her favourite things to do; they all have a lot of laughs and learn something along the way. Golf does not feel like a job but a way of life for Alanna. The gorgeous surroundings, the fresh air, the people, the game, all amazing! But the absolute, most rewarding aspect for Alanna is to watch a golfer compress that golf ball and hit the perfect shot; it's so fun to seeā€¦. Just Awesome! Career Highlights TCCP Level 5 Teacher
