EDUCATION
Dr. Bernard Lim received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia in 1989 and went on to receive a Master of Science in dentistry degree and a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Washington in 1991. His complete dedication to remaining current in the constantly evolving field of orthodontics has kept him involved in continuing education, participating in orthodontic study clubs, with one for fellow orthodontic colleagues and one as a mentor to other dentists. Dr. Lim also teaches at the University of British Columbia Dental School as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the graduate orthodontic program where he helps train future orthodontists.

Dr. Derek Hou was born and raised in Vancouver and graduated from Columbia University in New York City, where he met his wife Esther (who is also from Vancouver!). He completed his D.M.D. degree at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, graduating summa cum laude, and then spent 3 years at the University of Washington for his orthodontic specialty residency, where he earned his Orthodontic Certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry.
Dr. Hou has published multiple research articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and Progress in Orthodontics. He is consistently up to date with the latest advances in digital orthodontics and Invisalign treatment and is an active member of the BC Society of Orthodontics and the American Association of Orthodontics.
After completing his orthodontic training, Dr. Hou moved back to Vancouver and is happy to be back in his hometown with his wife, his two sons (ages 3 and 1) and his adopted rescue pup named Xiao Long Bao ("Soup Dumpling")
EDUCATION
Dr. Derek Hou is a certified specialist in orthodontics. He first completed dental school and was licensed as a general dentist before going on to do three additional years of specialty training on how to move teeth, correct bites, and improve dental facial growth. He continues to do research in digital orthodontics and has published his findings in multiple academic journals. In total, he has completed 11+ years of training and puts all of this experience into practice when he helps design the best smiles for our patients.
