Andrew D. Anglin is a dedicated and passionate educator in the Department of Mass Media at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where he teaches advertising. Originally from Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Anglin holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Information specializing in Advertising from The University of Tennessee, a Master of Business Administration from The University of Mississippi, a Master of Arts specializing in Integrated Marketing Communications from The University of Mississippi, Master of Business Administration specializing in Marketing and Luxury Brand Management from INSEEC (in Paris, France), and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Furman University.
With a strong focus on student development, Andrew strives to make a positive impact in the lives of his students. He has taught undergraduate and graduate classes in integrated marketing communications principles, multicultural and international integrated marketing communications, advertising design, and the role of advertising in society. He serves as the faculty advisor for the university's advertising club and leads a trip to Walt Disney World Resort for students to tour the company's in-house advertising agency.
Anglin's scholarship focuses on the use of nostalgia as an advertising appeal. Anglin began his professional career with The Walt Disney Company, serving in a variety of roles at the Walt Disney World Resort. Most recently, he was part of the Marketing and Sales Strategy Team, supporting Disney Youth Programs, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and runDisney operations and sales teams at both the Walt Disney World Resort as well as the Disneyland Resort. He also has worked for non-profit organizations, as well as Southern Growth Studio, a marketing agency in Memphis, Tenessee.

Blanche Parks was originally appointed to the Washburn Board by Mayor Butch Felker in 1993 and has served continuously, most recently reappointed by Mayor De La Isla in 2020. She is the Regents appointee from the 19th state senatorial district.
Parks, retired from the State of Kansas, was recognized for development and implementation of the Kansas Learning Quest 529 College Savings Program, which was ranked in the top five college savings programs in the nation by CNN/Money Magazine. She has served on the YWCA USA National Board of Directors, and recently as president of Downtown Topeka Rotary, and has participated in Leadership Kansas and Leadership Topeka. Parks holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in education from Washburn University, and is a Certified Public Manager. She currently serves on the Washburn University Foundation Board of Trustees.
She has served two one-year terms as chairperson to the Board, in addition to five one-year terms as vice chairperson.
Her term as a Regent is to expire June 30, 2024.

Craig Hulse was appointed by Governor Laura Kelly in July 2020 to serve as a member of the Washburn Board of Regents.

Dr. Altus is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. She has published numerous articles on caregiving for people with dementia and on shared housing arrangements for older people (e.g., intergenerational home-sharing, housing cooperatives, congregate living, Green Houses, etc.). She graduated cum laude from the University of California, San Diego, receiving honors with high distinction from the Department of Psychology. She received pre- and post-doctoral training awards from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, a Mary Switzer Research Fellowship award from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, and has worked on numerous research projects funded by organizations such as the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer's Association. She has been inducted into the NASCO (North American Students of Cooperation) Hall of Fame as a Co-op Educator. She is a former board member and President of the Communal Studies Association and a board member of the International Communal Studies Association. She is widely known for her study of intentional communities inspired by B. F. Skinner's novel, Walden Two. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and the Pi Chapter of TUA National Human Services Honor Society.

Kristen Grimmer is an assistant professor in public relations in the Department of Mass Media at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where she has taught since 2016.
Grimmer's scholarly work focuses on the representation of gender and social issues in the media. She and co-author Matthew Nyquist recently presented the conference paper, Why shouldn't I kill myself?: How suicide and suicide prevention is represented in 13 Reasons Why, at the Broadcast Educators Association national conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Grimmer has developed several departmental initiatives with chair Maria Stover that focus on alumni relations. These include the alumni email newsletter, scholarship donor recognition and outreach and the department's annual keynote speaker and alumni networking event that takes place every spring. She also has written several grants with Maria Stover to secure funding for the department to improve students' access to technology in the classrooms.
Grimmer holds a Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, an MSJ from the same institution, and a Bachelor of Arts in mass media from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.

Maria Stover is currently the chair and a professor in the Department of Mass Media at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where she has taught since 2003.
Stover's scholarly work focuses on women in politics in Eastern European countries and she is most known for her book, an edited collection called Media and Women in Politics: Perspectives from nations in Transitions .
Stover is an active leader at Washburn and has spearheaded several departmental initiatives focused on alumni, educating future students, and fundraising for the department through grant-writing and scholarship donor recognition and outreach.
Stover holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Media Arts from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois, an M.A. in Mass Communication and Media Arts, and a B.S. in journalism with a double minor in political science and history from the same institution.

Matthew Nyquist, known as the writer/director of The Gamer, a post-production whiz in editing, sound, and vfx in films such Dare to Be Different, and Picasso's Christ, as well as producing DACA (2019). Although teaching is Matthew's passion, he continues to work on LA-based projects remotely, where he previously worked for seven years.
Nyquist is a close collaborator with the Emmy winning director and editor, Allan Holzman. He previously worked for Oscar-winning producer Fred Roos (The Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now, Lost in Translation) and Oscar winning sound designer Dane Davis (The Matrix, Cabin in the Woods).
Nyquist has an MFA from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts in film and television production and a BGS from The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.

Regina Cassell is a senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Media and is also the Director of Student Media at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where she has taught since 2003.
Cassell's work at the university has included the Kaw Yearbook, the Mass Media Messenger - an alumni magazine, and the Washburn Review, the school newspaper that is published weekly. She has been a strong advocate for Washburn's student publications that she believes teach valuable skills through hands-on experience. All three publications have won awards at the national and state level.
Cassell is also known for her work with alumni and her focus on continuing relationships between mass media graduates and the department. Cassell holds an MSJ from the University of Kansas at Lawrence, Kansas, and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Northwest Missouri State University.

Sam Finch is a lecturer in the Department of Mass Media at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where he teaches film and video classes.
Previously, Finch lived in South Korea where he taught English as a second language for several years. Finch's experience living abroad lends him a unique perspective which he uses in his scholarly research on minority stereotypes in the media and he recently published a thesis titled, How Evaluations of Contact Affect Stereotypical Perceptions of Asian American Men.
Having worked as a videographer and post-production video editor, Finch brings his real-world skills and passion for filmmaking to the classroom every day where he teaches aspiring filmmakers video production, screenwriting, and video editing.
Finch holds a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Michigan State University and a Master's in Film Theory and Criticism from Central Michigan University.

Terry Beck was appointed by the Shawnee County Commission to serve on the Washburn Board of Regents, being named July 1, 2015. Beck earned his BA degree from Washburn in 1972 and his Juris Doctorate degree from Washburn School of Law in 1975.
Beck practices law and manages Beck & Gunn Law Office, in Topeka. He currently serves on the Third Judicial District Nominating Commission. He has served as director and president for the Topeka Bar Association, on the Board of Governors for the Kansas Association for Justice, and on the Kansas Supreme Court Client Protection Fund Commission.
Beck has been active with Sertoma, having served as the president or chairman of the board for several Sertoma clubs in and around Topeka, president of the Sertoma Foundation, governor of the Kansas District Sertoma and director for Sertoma International. Honors received include the Kansas Bar Association Commitment to Public Service Award, the Topeka Bar Association Honorable E. Newton Vickers Professionalism Award, and the Sertoma Lifetime Service Award.
His term as a Regent is to expire June 30, 2023.
Tracy Horacek recently joined the Department of Mass Media at Washburn University as the administrative assistant.
Horacek has several years of experience in running an office and her expertise in administration now keeps the department running smoothly. In addition, she brings a global perspective to her job, having lived in the Baden-Wurttemberg region of Germany for many years before moving to Topeka, Kansas.
Horacek is currently working on her bachelor's degree in Human Services.
