Chris Shearman - Managing Director

With over 20 years of experience in healthcare design and having won 3 prestigious Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. Chris's main experience has been in designing care homes and care villages for the elderly. Chris has gained a knowledge second to none in designing for the elderly care sector. has over 16 years of experience in healthcare design and has won 3 prestigious Pinder's Healthcare Design Awards. Chris' main experience and skill set has been in designing care homes and care villages for the elderly and frail, and those with limited mobility. The size and scale of the developments Chris has worked on vary from a one- off bedroom extension to a 2000 bed care home in China. Chris is also a talented designer in other fields and was nominated for a RIBA Bronze medal in 2004 for a one-off house in the New Forest. Chris has worked on many other commercial schemes from key motor retail sites for Ferrari and Porsche to high-end commercial office space, national retailers and one-off housing. To date, Chris has also been involved in over 200 developments throughout the UK and overseas.

Gwilym has over 10 years' experience working on the design and delivery of complex projects throughout the UK and Australia. He now heads up TDC Architects Melbourne office and works closely with clients and design teams to ensure projects are designed effectively across all stages of development. Gwilym brings a pragmatic, can-do attitude to all projects and enjoys providing design solutions to resolve problems and deliver outstanding schemes. Outside of the design studio Gwilym enjoys adventure travel, most sports and catching the sunset with a cold beer or two!

Richard Bailey

Richard is an award winning architect with extensive expertise both internationally and domestic with over 15 years of experience within the elderly care sector. qualified as an architect in 2014, and has experience of designing and constructing care homes since 2007. Richard's keen eye for detail and appreciation of the specialist environment that are required for the residents brings a level of understanding second to none. Richard was the lead architect on Bupa's flagship care home in Farnham (Winner of a Pinder's Design Award for "Best Care Home") before joining with Chris Shearman and forming The Design Collective Architects. Richard also has experience of high quality, small-scale projects, having worked upon a number of prestigious private developments, home remodelling and restoration projects.
