Cathy Gordon

Cathy specializes in the treatment and management of TMJ (jaw), facial and neck pain. She is chairperson and co-founder of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Temporomandibular Disorders (ACPTMD), which run post graduate courses for physiotherapists and dentists around the UK. ACPTMD also run advanced orofacial courses in conjunction with NVOF (Dutch Association of Orofacial Physiotherapists) and Cathy and committee members link in with physiotherapists and other orofacial specialists internationally at conferences in Europe and the USA to ensure training meets international standards. She also specializes in Vestibular Rehabilitation treating dizziness and balance problems and is a member of the ACPIVR (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Vestibular Rehabilitation) attending conferences and study days in the UK. She currently works in an NHS balance clinic with Consultants in ENT and Audiology. She has vast experience in all aspects of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic work. She qualified in 1994 from Leeds Metropolitan University and has worked for 25 years in the NHS, 23 years of which have been spent in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. In her current role she specialises in TMD, vestibular rehabilitation, paediatrics and is clinical lead of the hydrotherapy service. Intermittently she has an expended practitioner role in the DDH clinics at Stepping Hill Hospital. In her free time she enjoys cycling, climbing and skiing and plays violin in local orchestras and chamber groups.

Eoghan O'Connor

Eoghan graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy from University College Dublin in 2016. Following university, Eoghan split his time working in private practices in both Limerick and Dublin while training with the Irish heavyweight men's rowing squad. After stepping away from rowing, Eoghan worked across a number of sports such as basketball, rowing and rugby alongside private practice work in Dublin, before making the move to London to undertake his MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine at UCL which he finished in September 2020, receiving a Merit degree. Throughout his time in London, Eoghan gained further experience, continuing to work in private practice as well as work as Head Physiotherapist with London Pulse, Vitality Superleague Netball team and part time with the Arsenal Football Academy. As well as his studies in Sport Medicine, Eoghan has continued to develop his skills with postgraduate courses in areas such as low back pain, dry needling, running analysis and biomechanics and APPI Pilates, which he uses in day-to-day treatment and rehab. Eoghan has a particular interest in sports physiotherapy. Having participated in a number of sports at both national and international levels including rowing, basketball, and hurling, Eoghan draws on this sporting background to provide sport specific rehabilitation from the time of injury to return to play.

Gareth Williams

Gareth started his career as an academic in the maths department of The Open University before making a change to become a physiotherapist. After graduating from Salford University, achieving the highest mark in his year, he started working as an MSK physiotherapist in both the NHS and privately. He continues to split his time across the two as a Senior Physiotherapist. Outside work, Gareth's passion is climbing, from bouldering to mountaineering, indoors and outdoors. He is a member of local and national climbing clubs. Gareth has participated in many other sports over the years - he holds a black belt in judo, is a regular runner and occasional mountain biker. He has a strong background in training for a range of sports. Gareth's interests mean he enjoys treating upper limb conditions and he has treated many climbers. He continues to develop his treatment skills, and has taken courses on taping and is a sports massage therapist. He is presently starting training in acupuncture and dry needling

Hannah Martin

Having completed her Physiotherapy degree in 2011 Hannah began working in private practice; an area which allowed her to focus on her interest in sporting injuries. As well as working at Wilmslow Physio she is also a therapist working within the professional running team, New Balance Manchester. Prior to physiotherapy Hannah studied Biomedical Science at Wolverhampton with a MSc at Loughborough. At the time she began her career as a sports massage therapist and gained valuable experience working with the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Loughborough. She has since also worked for British Athletics, British Swimming and British Cycling; all exciting and challenging roles requiring various trips to the USA, Kenya and Font-Romeu. Outside of work Hannah enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and is a keen runner for Stockport Harriers.

Helen Shepherd

Helen has been as specialist in pelvic health for 30yrs. Graduating in 1989 from Withington Hospital, completing a post graduate diploma in continence in 1997 and her MSC in 2004. Since then she has continued to develop her clinical professional development and has further specialised in chronic pelvic pain and is fully pilates trained She is a member of the board of POGP and lectures to undergraduates and other healthcare

Howard Turner

Howard grew up on a sheep farm near Inverell, NSW, Australia. After a stint in the Royal Australian Air Force, a Physics degree and a distinguished career in the restaurants and bars of Melbourne he trained as a Physiotherapist at Latrobe University. He came to England in 1991 after working in Montreal and moved to this area to establish Wilmslow Physio in 2001 with his wife Joanne. They have 4 children, 8 fish, 2 cats and 4 chickens. Howard has worked in the NHS, in occupational health, in private practice and as a consultant to a variety of sporting teams and bodies. For 30 years he taught on 6 of the UK's best Physiotherapy Masters programmes, on clinical reasoning, disorders of the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex and shoulder problems. At the same time he taught post-graduate training courses to Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors on the management of low-back pain of pelvic origin and hip and groin pain. He has consulted to British Cycling, UK Athletics, British Swimming, the English Institute of Sport, the LTA and LTAA, the RFU, West Ham, QPR, Sale Sharks and London Irish and has provided training to the Physiotherapy departments of many household name sporting clubs and bodies. Howard's specialist interest is in chronic neck and back pain, SIJ and pelvic pain and disorders, headache, and neuropathic pain.

Jess Nugent

Jess initially completed a BSc in Geography before qualifying as a sports massage therapist in 2006. She subsequently completed an physiotherapy degree at Salford University in 2012. After graduating, Jess worked in the NHS for a year, completing rotations in MSK outpatients and orthopaedics. She moved into private practice after the birth of her second child and splits her time between clinical practice here at Wilmslow Physio and in elite sport. Jess has worked in athletics for 15 years, having travelled internationally with Track and Field Athletes, firstly in her role as a soft tissue therapist and then as a physiotherapist. She is a member of the British Athletics physiotherapy support team and regularly provides physiotherapy at altitude training camps, pre competition holding camps and covers U18, junior and U23 track and field competitions throughout the year. Jess has a particular clinical interest in tendinopathy and is also a qualified APPI Pilates instructor. Her experiences as a soft tissue therapist and a Pilates instructor compliment her physiotherapy practice in delivering effective treatment to a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions in patients from the general population to the high level athlete, as well as pre and post-operative rehabilitation.

Katie Flatters

Katie grew up playing every sport possible so pursued a career in physio with the goal of working in sport. She graduated from Birmingham Uni in 2010 and after 1 year of NHS rotations set off on a 4 year working holiday in New Zealand and Australia. In Australia she worked at the Victorian Institute of Sport and with the Australian Triathlon team and Victorian State Hockey and Swimming teams, as well as private work in a Melbourne sports injuries clinic run by a friend of Howard's. In 2015 Katie returned to the UK to complete a masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Nottingham University, alongside work with British Athletics, British Rowing and England Athletics. At the end of 2016 she returned to Australia on a research fellowship with Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis which confirmed research was not for her. She returned to the UK in 2017 and moved to Manchester to start work with British Cycling, where she is the lead Physio for the Paralympic team. At British cycling she also leads on bike fit for all programs and provides physio support to the academy and MTB squads. She continues her role with BC whilst joining the team at Wilmslow Physio. She has a keen interest in the neck, hips, backs and Concussion. Her treatment approach is hands on but with a focus on rehab and exercise, aiming to get your body moving and strong so you can live a happy and active lifestyle. In her spare time she spends time controlling her tendencies for overachievement but also likes to be outdoors, either hiking, running, cycling, swimming or playing hockey.

Paul Early

Paul pursued a career as a physiotherapist for the opportunity to bring together his interests in health, fitness and science. Graduating as a physiotherapist in 2008 from Coventry University he has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy from the outset of his career. Relocating to Manchester in 2010 to advance his skills and clinical experience he has been working with the NHS for over a decade providing outpatient musculoskeletal services across Greater Manchester. The role afforded the opportunity to work as Physio Team Lead, and development into an Advanced Practitioner role to enhance his scope of practice. He has experience with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions and takes a hands-on approach to therapy, trained in manual therapies, sports massage and acupuncture, and draws on his personal interests in yoga, wellbeing and fitness training when prescribing exercises and rehabilitation tailored to each person's goals and lifestyle. Paul practises yoga daily, as well as regular calisthenics and strength training, and has a keen interest in cooking and baking.

Post natal health check including Pelvic floor assessment and advice on return to exercise, with individualised exercise programs provided as required
