Laura worked as a freelance tutor for BPP throughout 2012 and then joined BPP full time in January 2013 as a tutor and became ACCA & FIA Programme Manager in 2014. During that time she progressed to teach a variety of financial reporting and financial management papers across all qualifications. Whilst at BPP she has also completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Higher Education.
Laura previously worked at an international retail company in the Finance department and was responsible for preparing monthly and annual accounts and liaising with the external auditors. It was during this time that she qualified as an accountant with ACCA. Her role then changed when she moved to the Management Accounting Team. Here she was responsible for preparing and distributing monthly management accounts for various parts of the business. She was also involved in the budget setting process. A key part of her role was communicating and liaising with non-finance departments to ensure all parties understood their figures and responding to queries.

Hannah joined the BPP team as Client Relations and Events Manager in 2022 and became Professional Development Manager in 2023. She has over 10 years' Customer Service experience in various sectors.

Ian joined BPP in 2007 after working as National Training Manager for a major UK retailer. During that time he worked on organisation-wide training plans including Management Development programmes, Induction programmes and structured training programmes for all staff. Prior to that he worked as an NVQ Assessor for a vocational training provider for several years where he was able to develop and coach managers to help them reach their company goals, as well as NVQ targets.
Ian's main responsibilities are the day-to-day running of the Personal development courses at BPP in Jersey, including marketing, client meetings, course design and evaluation.
Ian is enthusiastic about bringing the subjects he's teaching to life and uses lots of examples and anecdotes from his own extensive experience in ‘the real world', to help students understand the key theories and concepts covered by the subject.
Ian teaches exam and non-exam courses specialising in Management Theory and in-house Management Development and Personal Development programmes
James Hay - Managing Director
James joined BPP in 2013 after working for Baker Tilly as an Audit Supervisor. Prior to that he worked at EY as an Economic Analyst then Audit Associate/PQ Executive and where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. James also has a BA Hons degree in Finance, Accounting and Management which he gained at the University of Nottingham.
James' main responsibilities are preparing and delivering high-quality courses within the ACCA, Foundations in Accountancy, ICAEW and Chartered Governance Institute qualifications.
James understands the students in his class and is very aware of what they look for in a tutor. His teaching style is to deliver in a wide range of formats, including annotation of the course notes; real life examples from his own practice career history and from his experience of training in the classroom.
He feels that a student's understanding is enhanced by attempting practical examples once the technical content has been covered. Therefore, in class, question practice will be done throughout the courses to ensure every student can apply their learning to exam style questions, with detailed debriefs provided after each attempt.
James delivers examination courses for ACCA, Foundations in Accountancy, ACA, ICAS and The Chartered Governance Institute, and specialises in financial accounting, taxation and audit.
Jo joined BPP in 2015 after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. During her time at KPMG she sought out training opportunities and was ultimately given a formal training role, moving to 50% training and 50% audit. Jo also has a BSc First Class Honours, Mathematics which she gained at the University of Sussex.
Jo works hard to encourage students to ask questions and aims for an interactive class experience. She ensures her students know that she's available to support them both in and outside of the classroom.
Jo delivers examination courses for ICAEW, ACCA and The Chartered Governance Institute with a predominant focus on management accounting and finance. She also delivers professional development sessions, such as Finance for non-finance managers.

Prior to his current role, Richard was Marketing Administrator at the Jersey International Business School for four years and then Marketing Coordinator and has a blend of experience in traditional, digital, and content marketing strategies.
He was educated at De La Salle College and the University of Exeter, where he studied French and Spanish. As part of his course he spent a year living in France as a student at Université Rennes 2 Haute Bretagne.
He speaks French, and is currently learning Italian. He has also previously studied Mandarin Chinese.

Rory is a chartered accountant who has a background in audit and technical financial reporting advisory.
He has 10 years' experience in practice managing engagements across a variety of industries but specialising in financial services including listed and unlisted property funds, debt funds, venture capital, equities funds, administrators, managers, and associated compliance engagements.
Throughout his time in practice Rory developed an in-depth knowledge of IFRS and International Auditing Standards including interpretation and application to unusual scenarios.
He started his career in Jersey before moving to Australia working on entities based in a number of jurisdictions including Jersey, Guernsey, UK, Australia, New Zealand, China, Chile and Namibia.
When in Australia, Rory's role also included responsibilities for developing training materials, conducting internal training and presenting to clients on technical financial reporting issues. This is where he developed a passion for teaching and then decided to make the switch to become a full-time tutor.
