A majority of states have adopted mobility legislation - which is a practice privilege that generally permits a licensed CPA in good standing from a substantially equivalent state of practice outside of his or her principle place of business without obtaining another license. The CPA must hold an active unrestricted CPA license in good standing in his or her principal place of business. "CPA license" means a license granted by the state board after all education, exam, and experience requirements have been met. A CPA performing services through mobility may only perform the same level of services (attest or non-attest) in the mobility jurisdiction as he or she is permitted to perform..
