Aleida Deniz

Hello! To the majority of students that see me every day, I am "Miss". My name is Aleida Deniz and I've been front desk assistant/ attendance for Eastlake High School since 2018. The reason I work at Eastlake high school is because I like how accessible enrollment is for the students here. At Eastlake, each student that puts forth their best effort is able to see their hard work blossom into something more.

Audrey Stuber

Audrey Stuber is a third-year Social Studies teacher, who, after taking time away from education during the 22-23 school year, is returning to the classroom at Eastlake this year! After graduating from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2019, Audrey chose to become a teacher in 2020, and has taught both Junior High and High School Social Studies classes. When not in the classroom, Audrey likes to play video games (especially Valorant,) go hiking and fishing, and spend time exploring local museums in small towns. She is excited to be able to connect with students and share her love of history here at Eastlake!

Hi, my name is Claudia Salomon-Ruiz (Ms. Claudia), Executive Assistant at Eastlake High School. I have been part of Eastlake's team for eight years.

Dawn M. Nelson

Job Titles:

Dawn M. Nelson is the Intervention Coordinator at Eastlake H.S. She first came to work at Eastlake in July 2017. Dawn is a United States Air Force veteran with 28 years of experience in K-12 education. Her position allows her to help students with educational disabilities achieve success in their academics and prepare for postsecondary education and life after high school. Dawn's father was a United States Marine Corp veteran and then a salesman for Walt Disney Company; his job moved their family all over the country. They eventually settled in Los Angeles, where Dawn graduated from high school and then enlisted in the Air Force. She served on active duty for 11 years as a Russian linguist and photojournalist, stationed in both Japan and Italy, and then finally in Denver. After graduating from Metropolitan State College, she began her second career in education here in Colorado Springs. Over the years she has taught English, journalism (newspaper, yearbook, and broadcast), photography, history, art, film, creative writing, music tech, math, and special education-related classes, and has served as a case manager, department chair, teacher mentor, coordinator, and school administrator. Dawn earned a master's degree in Education Leadership and Administration from Chapman University, a bachelor's degree in English (Secondary Education) from Metropolitan State College of Denver, an associate's degree in Interpreting and Translating from the Community College of the Air Force, and a diploma in Russian Language Studies from the Defense Language Institute-Foreign Language Center. She holds a Colorado professional teaching license with endorsements in Special Education, English Language Arts, and Visual Arts, and a principal license. Dawn and her husband, Frank, own a ranch and horse rescue, where they spend their evenings and weekends caring for 13 horses and three dogs. Dawn is also an artist, specializing in photography, custom furniture painting, woodburning, and crochet.

Jon Martinsen

Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, Mr. Jon attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earning a BA in English/Creative Writing. Before pursuing a Master's Degree, he served in the US Navy for 7 years primarily stationed in Virginia having been deployed in Europe and The Middle East. After moving to Colorado, he immediately worked in Education starting as a Substitute teacher and then as a paraprofessional before completing his Master's Degree with CSU-Global majoring in Organizational Leadership and Management with a K-12 English Educator Specialization. Today, Mr. Jon has taught for three years in Secondary English and has always been a fan of literature, especially 20th-century American literature (James Baldwin, Flannery O'Connor, Raymond Carver, to name a few), and enjoys passing his knowledge of some of the most influential authors and their works and why they remain significant. Outside of teaching, he is a big advocate for the arts, and enjoys hiking, and spending time with his family.

Phoebe Schwab

My name is Ms. Phoebe and I am in my second year here at Eastlake High School. I started at EHS as a paraprofessional and was offered the position of English teacher! I am a graduate from UCCS, and with the help of two scholarships I obtained a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Leadership and a Minor in Human Services.

William (Bill) McBride

William (Bill) McBride is an educator with 30-plus years of experience. He earned his MA in management and BA in business Administration. Bill specializes in providing instruction on CPR and First Aid, leading to the development and ownership of Cardi Care, Mr. McBride's business which offers Basic Life Support training to professionals, families and individuals. He devoted 11 years to ensuring all medical personnel in the Penrose-St. Francis healthcare system maintained their medical credentialing. Now, Bill is embarking on a new journey, exploring additional ways to give back to the community, and is excited to work with youth and support them in meeting their fullest potential. In his free time, Bill loves to travel (he's been on 16 cruises!), traverse the great outdoors, zipline, hike, and spend time with his dog, Snugbee.

Yaa Sakyi

Yaa Sakyi is the Family Advocate who serves as the liaison between students, families, and outside agencies. She provides support to students who experience difficulties, assists students with learning new behavioral skills, develops self-confidence, and becomes more aware of how others view them. She and the students discuss how to practice new behaviors, and how to deal with the many problems life presents.
