Tony Jakeman is Professor, Fenner School of Environment and Society and Director of the Integrated Catchment Assessment and Management (iCAM) Centre, The Australian National University. He has been an Environmental Modeller with the ANU for over 35 years and has over 400 publications in the open literature, half of these in refereed international journals. He has been a principlal supervisor to over 60 graduated PhD students. Since 1997 he has also directed the iCAM Centre pursuing methods and applications of integrated assessment and decision support on water resource issues. He leads the Integration and Decision Support Program of the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training. Other scientific and organisational activities include: Honorary Editor-in-Chief, Environmental Modelling and Software (Elsevier); Foundation and Past President, International Environmental Modelling and Software Society; Past President, Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand, Inc.; Vice-President, International Association for Mathematics and Computers in Simulation; Board of Directors, The Integrated Assessment Society; and regularly a member of scientific advisory committees of international conferences. In 2011 he received the Silver Medal of Masaryk University for contributions to environmental modelling and software. In 2012 he was awarded the Ray Page Lifetime Achievement Award from Simulation Australia. In 2015 he was listed as a Highly-Cited Researcher by Thomson-Reuters (top 1%, computer science), and also awarded an inaugural Lifetime Membership of the Modellling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand. Among her most outstanding positions, she has been President of the International Water Association in Mexico; Vice President of the Mexican Academy of Sciences; Professional Development Coordinator at the Mexican Institute of Water Technology (IMTA); Deputy Director of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering Institute of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); President of the College of Environmental Engineers of Mexico and the Mexican National Engineering and Environmental Sciences. At the international level, Ms. Jimenez Cisneros was a Senior Expert Consultant to the Governments of Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain and South Africa in wide range of issues including the formation of national wastewater treatment programmes, water re-use; as well as co-Chair of the Inter-American Network of Academic Sciences and member of the Executive Committee of the International Water Association. She has closely collaborated with IHP initiatives in our region, especially with those related with urban waters, area that she has a clear commitment and with Aqua-LAC Scientific Journal, both as author of published articles and as a reviewer. She has received several awards, the most remarkable being the Global Water Award of the International Water Association (2010); the National Prize of Sciences and Arts in Engineering (2009); the Award of the National University in Technological Innovation (2008); Nobel Peace Prize for her participation in the 4th IPCC Report on climate change (2007); National Environmental Merit Award (2006) and The Royal Order of the Polar Star (2002) delivered by His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden.

Charmaine Dean is Vice-President, Research and Professor in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo. Her research interest lies in the development of methodology for disease mapping, longitudinal studies, the design of clinical trials, and spatio-temporal analyses. Much of this work has been motivated by direct applications to important practical problems in biostatistics and ecology. Her current main research applications are in survival after coronary artery bypass surgery, mapping disease and mortality rates, forest ecology, fire management, smoke exposure estimation from satellite imagery, and modeling of temporary and intermittent stream flow for flood analysis and predictions.

Fred is currently the Communications Coordinator for GIWS, focusing on GIWS, GWF and Let's Talk About Water initiatives.

Howard Wheater is a world expert in hydrological science and sustainable water resource management. He has extensive international experience studying and advising on flood, water resource and water quality issues. He is also vice-chair of the World Climate Research Programme's Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) Project, and leads UNESCO's arid zone water resources program.
Since relocating to Canada in October 2010, Wheater has been named Canada Excellence Research Chair in Water Security and Director, Global Institute for Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan. In addition, he has participated as a member of the Alberta's Provincial Environment Monitoring Panel and Chaired the Council of Canadian Academies Expert Panel on Sustainable Management of Water in the Agricultural Landscapes of Canada. This latter role saw release of a report in February 2013 entitled Water and Agriculture in Canada: Towards Sustainable Management of Water Resources. Wheater is also a member of the Water Partner Advisory Committee to the Council of the Federation Water Stewardship Council, and currently sits on an International Court of Arbitration concerning the Indus Waters Treaty.
Before arriving in Canada, Wheater served as professor of hydrology and director of the Environment Forum at the United Kingdom's Imperial College London. He holds a PhD in hydrology from Bristol University and a first-class degree in engineering science from the University of Cambridge. He is past president of the British Hydrological Society, is a fellow of the UK's Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Civil Engineers, and the American Geophysical Union, and he holds a life membership of the International Water Academy. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and six books, and has won several academic awards, including the prestigious Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water in 2006.
Professor Wheater has extensive experience of training HQP. He has graduated more than 50 PhD students, and of the 14 PhD students graduating in the last six years, four now hold Faculty positions in universities world-wide, and seven more are in full-time research positions. Currently, the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Water Security supports six additional faculty, three undergraduate students, 31 graduate students, 15 post-doctoral fellows and 30 research and administrative staff. At Imperial he was, for 30 years, Director of the 12 month MSc programme in Hydrology, graduating many hundred HQP over that period.
