David Phenicie

David is a talented and creative Information Technologies manager. He attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute where he earned a degree in Information Technology Systems. Prior to joining Transportation Compliance Associates, David began his career working as a supervisor for a computer repair company, where he managed a variety of products, including: technical support & client interfacing, hardware & software management and repair, and software licensing. During his tenure at TCA, David has managed several large-scale, cross-functional projects, including: vendor and service provider selection & implementation, several application and migration initiatives for TCA's enterprise-class hardware and software systems, owned and hosted server start-up and maintenance, and database set-up, indexing, coding and functionality specifications. David is also becoming an expert in SQL Databases and information systems. Overall, David's dedication and out-of-the-box thinking has helped TCA excel. David not only has the knowledge and expertise to manage a dynamic company with unique IT needs, but he has the ability to think quickly and implement solutions in a timely manner. He is the backbone of our operation.

Eric Percival

Eric started his hazardous materials career as a Fire Fighter in the U.S. Air Force where he became certified as a Hazardous Waste Technician/Firefighter. While serving in the USAF, he responded to multiple military and civilian hazardous materials incidents both stateside and abroad. After separating from the military, Eric received his baccalaureate in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State, graduating Suma Cum Lade. Since graduating he has become certified in CEHSP, CAS, CHMT, and PSM.

Karen Alston - President

For more than 20 years, Karen worked at one of the largest resin manufacturing and distribution plants for both Ashland Inc., and its predecessor Aristech Chemical Corporation. In her role, Karen was responsible for production scheduling of two 6000 gallon reactors and for ordering raw materials to meet production and sales demands. In addition, Karen was responsible for ordering and overseeing the transport of raw materials to support terminal operations that supplied other Ashland Inc. facilities. Karen has extensive experience in rail, truck and barge operations. Karen's plant experience is invaluable when conducting DOT, and IATA regulatory training, as she applies her real-world experience to improving each DOT and IATA training session. Karen specializes in DOT hazardous materials training for tank cars and tank trucks. Karen is certified in DOT, IMDG and IATA. Karen holds a two year technical degree in robotics and an Associate degree from Robert Morris University, and actively served in the US Military from 1985-1993.

Lindsay Tomchak

Lindsay has emerged as one of our top instructors. She has developed all of our training materials and has taken a proactive approach to mastering and keeping current on DOT and TDG regulations, as well as their operational applications. She is certified in DOT, IATA, IMDG, RCRA, ADR, and TDG. Lindsay is currently studying to take the test to be a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and holds a BSBA in Marketing.

Lora Alston

Lora earned a BS in Management Information Systems and a MS in Internet Information Systems, from Robert Morris University. Lora comes to TCA with an extensive background in IT customer support services. She began her career as a help desk employee for McKesson Automation, a Pharmaceutical Company, and quickly moved to a supervisory role as Lead Systems Administrator. After seven years with McKesson, Lora accepted a position with LANTek where she managed 12 helpdesk employees on 24/7/365 operations for an external customer base. She was responsible for creating and updating their policies and procedures, training new and existing employees, maintaining all aspects of the helpdesk contracts with outside companies, and assisting in special projects including creating a SharePoint knowledge base for the IT helpdesk. Lora brings to TCA a new dimension and is charged with developing TCA's business through marketing and networking, along with taking inside sales calls, developing and creating online training content, managing projects and website content, helping employees along with external customers with any IT related issues, and managing the office by creating policies and procedures.

Stacey Cope

Stacey worked at the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI) for eight years. The SEI works closely with defense and government organizations, industry, and academia to continually improve software-intensive systems. They help organizations improve their software engineering capabilities and to develop or acquire the right software. Specifically, her work with the SEI involved: performing research to explore promising solutions to software engineering problems, identifying and codifying technological and methodological solutions, testing and refining the solutions through pilot programs that help industry and government systemically solve problems, and widely disseminating and implementing proven solutions through training, licensing, and publication of best practices. Stacey brings with her strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as a proven ability to interact with government, business and academic constituencies, both domestically and internationally. She's had extensive contact with the SEI Partners, Instructors, Senior Management, Technical Staff and the public (attendees of courses). She assisted in managing content for more than 10 of the SEI courses and oversaw the instructor program, which included over 400 instructors and partners from all over the world. Stacey also has experiences with hiring and training of staff, and was the Team Leader for the department's support staff. She also has experience with contract documents and has worked closely with Accounts Receivable (AR) in ensuring proper billing, collection and accounting procedures. Stacey earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Development and a Masters of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Geneva College.

Toni Phenicie

Toni is an asset to TCA's daily operations and customer service operations. Toni has earned an Associate's degree in Business Science from Community College of Allegheny County. She comes to TCA with a strong background in customer service. These skills allow her to have a broad spectrum of duties and tasks that she can perform with excellence here at TCA. Toni is responsible for managing our hazmat certificate program. This program includes ensuring attendees are provided a certificate of completion, as well as informing customers of upcoming expirations to keep them in compliance. Toni also oversees TCA's driver qualification files services. In an area that requires prompt deadlines, she maintains compliance documents for many drivers, without missing a beat. Toni is also an irreplaceable asset to TCA's training department. She is consistently helping our trainers schedule and prepare for upcoming trainings. Toni is currently trained and knowledgeable in DOT, IATA, and IMDG and plans to continue to expand her knowledge into additional modes of transportation.
