Barbara Litz

As the Manager of the firm's Consulting department, Barbara specializes in providing outsourced CFO services to small businesses in various industries. She focuses on improving business processes and the developing management reporting. She has a strong background in tax, audit, and corporate accounting. With over ten years of experience, Barbara is well versed in a multitude of accounting software including QuickBooks® and Sage Timberline. She has a bachelor's degree in Business with additional accounting coursework and is currently sitting for the CPA exam.

Brian Richards

Byron Hildebrand

Byron assists clients with a variety of services, including a special focus on tax planning and tax preparation for business and individuals. If you ever need help resolving issues with the IRS or state tax notices, let Byron be your guide. He enjoys the interaction he has with clients when assisting them with tax preparation, planning, and compliance. Byron contributes a portion of free time to the ARC of Frederick County where he assists people with developmental disabilities. He also enjoys time with his wife and children, friends, sports, and travel. Carl Hildebrand is co-founder of HLA and serves as the firm's tax partner. Possessing a thorough understanding of sound business management, Carl is an experienced consultant and successful tax strategist. Working closely with owner-managed companies in our Strategic Performance Management program, Carl consistently helps clients achieve above-average growth. He is experienced in handling special tax situations, such as the acquisition or disposition of a business. He also assists our individual clients in the areas of tax planning and preparation, estate planning, and personal financial planning. When Carl's not busy planning financial strategies or helping business owners recapture their purpose, he spends his time teaching others the great art of Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. As our finance manager, Caroline oversees the financial health of the firm. She makes sure that HLA has the financial strength needed to expand expertise and focus on client service. Since joining the HLA team in 2002, Caroline has served as an administrative assistant, office manager and now finance manager. Her duties include accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and financial reporting. She also provides support to the A&A department. A Frederick native, Caroline now lives in Gettysburg with her husband and three kids. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, reading and spending time with her cats.

Holly Myers

Holly assists clients with a variety of services, specializing in conducting comprehensive financial audits, reviews, and compilations. You can count on Holly to prepare accurate financial statements and perform analytical procedures to detect unusual financial statement relationships. A Maryland native, Holly now lives in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, with her husband and two dogs, Mabel & Chili. She is responsible for increasing the efficiency of the office, overseeing HR tasks, managing administrative processes, tracking due dates and e-filing returns. Jamie is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She enjoys running, spending her time with family and friends, and trips to the beach!

Jenni Bernier

Jenni is a bookkeeper at Hildebrand, Limparis & Associates. She assists with monthly bookkeeping for a variety of clients, payroll tax returns, personal property returns and much more. She has a Business Administration degree from Penn State University. Jenni loves living close to the office in the Frederick area. In her free time, she loves reading, playing video games, and spending time with her boyfriend, her son, and their beloved greyhound, Ridley.

Keren Ott

Keren assists our professionals with a variety of tasks including preparing tax returns, business personal property returns and bookkeeping. Keren graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor's degree in accounting and information systems in May 2022. She also completed Salisbury's fraud certification program and will be CPA eligible upon graduation. Keren takes advantage of learning from new experiences and opportunities. She appreciates all of the valuable information she has been able to learn from our clients and professionals. Keren served as the Reporter for Salisbury's Beta Alpha Psi, Iota Pi chapter. She encourages her peers to participate in community service and professional networking events. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing field hockey and assisting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the Best Buddies organization. Lisa Michael

As a staff accountant, Lisa works in the areas of Audit and Financial Reporting. She has over twenty years of experience in business and accounting systems, with a background in software and process implementations. She also offers extensive financial reporting experience, with a focus on commercial and non-profit companies. Born in Silver Spring, Lisa has lived overseas and traveled extensively, but Frederick has always been home. In her spare time, she enjoys tending to her crowded container garden and learning duplicate bridge online.

Melody Ohler

Melody's genuine care for others and warm, well organized customer care skills make her a wonderful addition to our team. She brings over 18 years of experience with office administrative responsibilities. Melody grew up in Poolesville, MD, then moved to Frederick, MD, in 1998; she resides in Keedysville, MD, with her family. In Melody's free time she enjoys visiting with her friends and family. Mel thoroughly enjoys hunting, gardening, dogs, and campfires as well as having her feet in the sand at the beach or a lake.

Shane Hildebrand

Shane's areas of specialty are Auditing and Financial Reporting, Commercial and Nonprofit Entities and Commercial Compliance. He has over eighteen years of experience in auditing and financial reporting. He is focused primarily on audits of commercial and nonprofit entities, and is well versed in the intricacies of the audit process, accounting requirements, and financial reporting. Shane also has extensive experience working with commercial clients ranging from $1 million to $200 million in revenue in a variety of industries including manufacturing, agriculture, and franchises. Shane resides in Frederick, MD. In his free time, Shane enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking and enjoying the natural beauty that this area has to offer. He also enjoys spending time helping friends and nonprofit organizations and staying involved as a positive addition to the local community in general.
