Blackfriars is a Newcastle Restaurant located in a former 13th-century refectory, believed to be the oldest dining room in the UK. Within the complex, we also have a Cookery School, Tasting Room, Meeting Room, Banquet Hall, King's Suite and Cloister Garden where you can enjoy a host of dining options and events... Blackfriars is set within a 13th-century former Dominican friary. Established in 1239 it remains the jewel of Newcastle's medieval past and has a fascinating history. Over the years Blackfriars has expanded from the friar's refectory dining room to almost all the remaining claustral out-buildings and today boasts a Banquet Hall, Parlour Bar, Cookery School and Tasting Room as well as a number of function/meeting rooms...
