In his role as provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, Andrew P. Daire serves as UWM's chief academic officer overseeing all academic operations. He is responsible for administration of all schools and colleges, enrollment management and many other centers, institutes, and units in the Division of Academic Affairs. Daire came to UWM in 2023 and is also a professor in Educational Psychology. His research interests include family stability and economic mobility and career development in STEM recruitment and retention. He previously served as dean of the School of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and held prior positions at the University of Houston and the University of Central Florida. He earned his doctorate in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology from Florida State University.
Andrew P. Brian Thompson is Chief Innovation and Partnership Officer and leads UWM's Office of Strategic Partnerships. He is responsible for partnerships with corporations, non-profit organizations, and other groups to enhance and uplift the academic enterprise, research accomplishments, and student experiences at UWM. In this role, he oversees key initiatives that include the Connected Systems Institute (CSI), Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute (NMDSI), Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin (FCW), and the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center (LEC). Thompson joined the UWM community in 2006 to help launch the UWM Research Foundation which he led through 2022. He also served as Director of the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center from 2016 to 2023 and is Co-PI on the Milwaukee I-Corps (Innovation Corps) program sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Thompson has taught new ventures as an adjunct instructor in the Lubar College of Business and the UWM Honors College. In previous roles, Mr. Thompson led the development and launch of communications satellites, worked in corporate ventures and helped create startups in biotechnology and the entertainment industry. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from UCLA.

As vice chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Chia Youyee Vang leads efforts to advance diversity and equity and foster inclusion for all campus community members. Vang served as associate vice chancellor for Global Inclusion and Engagement from 2017-2021. A professor of history, she has been on the UWM faculty since 2006. Her teaching and research interests include 20th century U.S. international history, with particular emphasis on its relation to refugee migration. Outside of academia, Vang has 10 years of experience providing program evaluation, planning and policy research consulting services. She earned her doctorate in American Studies from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Chia Youyee Vang is Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She oversees the division that is responsible for advancing diversity and equity and fostering inclusion for all members of the campus community. She recently led the development and implementation of UW-Milwaukee's Racial Justice and Equity Program that is required professional development for all employees. Her teaching and research interests include twentieth century U.S. international history, the Cold War in Asia, Asian American history, Hmong history, refugee migration and transnational and diasporic communities. She is author of four books: Prisoner of Wars: A Hmong Fighter Pilot's Story of Escaping Death and Confronting Life (Temple University Press, 2020), Fly Until You Die: An Oral History of Hmong Pilots in the Vietnam War (Oxford University Press, 2019). Hmong America: Reconstructing Community in Diaspora (University of Illinois Press, 2010), and Hmong in Minnesota (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2008). In March 2016, the University of Minnesota Press released her co-edited volume, Claiming Place: On the Agency of Hmong Women. Dr. Vang's research is global in scope but intimately informed by her own refugee experiences as a child. She is interested in not only understanding larger political and military transformations, but also, the lived experiences of those who experience wars not of their own making but fought in their environments. Her documentation of Southeast Asian refugee lives and that of their descendants across four continents help us to better understand the lasting impact of one of the most controversial wars of the 20 th century.

Dr. Marissa Jablonski is an accomplished water engineer, environmental advisor and plastics-reduction expert who has worked in more than 45 countries on Earth. Her way of understanding and engaging in complex interactions between human beings and environmental systems, combined with her skills in storytelling and systems processes, make her a much sought after consultant and public speaker.
Marissa lives her life as part of a global community. She is a founding member and mentor to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student chapter of Engineers Without Borders, and she advises on the design and implementation of projects in Guatemala. She also serves as international coordinator of a Guatemalan-led NGO that builds infrastructure with indigenous communities to meet the needs of groups involved in each project.
After earning a PhD in environmental engineering and serving as an instructor of peacebuilding, engineering and physics at numerous institutions in Milwaukee, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work in policy. During her time as a 2017-19 AAAS Science Technology and Policy Fellow at USAID, she was both a Public Diplomacy Fellow in the Office of American Schools and Hospitals Abroad and an Environmental Advisor to the Office of Food for Peace. She was also asked by the U.S. Embassy of Thailand and the Phuket Hotels Association to serve as an Embassy Science Fellow to design and lead a five-point model to help reduce their single-use plastics by more than 6 million in 2018.
Marissa is an advocate for minorities and women in STEM fields and served as coordinator of the National Science Foundation's FORTE program from 2009 to 2015. During that time, she also designed an internationally recognized project that engaged with informal dye industries in rural India to affordably clean wastewater. Marissa's innovative outlook on research, business and life has won her many awards and praise from groups that include the National Science Foundation, Philanthropic Educational Organization, Mondialogo and the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.

Joan Nesbitt is a fifth generation Oklahoman with Native American heritage (enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation). She earned a BA in Communication from The University of Tulsa and an MA in Organizational Dynamics from The University of Oklahoma. She has more than 30 years' experience in university advancement, the last 17 at the executive level, and she has been a part of four successful comprehensive campaigns. She and her teams have been recognized multiple times for fundraising and engagement excellence by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, including two national CASE awards in 2016 and 2020 for overall fundraising. In 2020, Joan and the Advancement team at Missouri S&T closed a $300 million charitable gift, the fifth largest of all time to a public university and the largest in Missouri history.

As Chief Legal Counsel, Joely Urdan is responsible for the provision of legal services to the institution and focuses her own legal practice on employment and personnel matters, administrative policies, litigation, student conduct issues, and campus safety. She also oversees UWM's Office of Compliance and Ethics. Before UWM, she spent four years at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she represented state agencies and state employees in state and federal litigation and argued appeals before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Wisconsin Court of Appeals and Wisconsin Supreme Court. Olivia (Liv) Hwang serves as Vice Chancellor for Marketing, Communications & University Relations at UWM. She leads external and government relations, strategic marketing and communication, web, print and copy, licensing, marketing partnerships, and brand strategy efforts. Liv and her teams are strengthening UWM's position in the Midwest and across the globe while driving enrollment and expanding access to higher education. Before joining UWM, Liv spent more than a decade in state government leadership roles in Wisconsin and Louisiana. Sheldon Lubar is the founder and Chairman of Lubar & Co. Previously, he served as Chairman and CEO of Christiana Companies, Inc., chairman of C2 Inc. and a director of MassMutual Life Insurance Co., U.S. Bancorp, MGIC Investment Corp., Ameritech Corporation, Weatherford International, Grant Prideco, Approach Resources, EnLink Midstream and other public companies. During his career, Mr. Lubar has held governmental appointments under three U.S. presidents. President Jimmy Carter named him Commissioner of the White House Conference on Small Business in 1979-80. President Richard M. Nixon appointed him Assistant Secretary, Housing Production and Mortgage Credit, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration, and Director of the Federal National Mortgage Association, in 1973-74. He completed this service under President Gerald Ford. Mr. Lubar served as a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System and as its President. In 1991, Mr. Lubar served as Co-Chairman of the Governor's Conference on Small Business. He was Trustee and Acting Chairman of the State of Wisconsin Investment Board and President of the Milwaukee Art Museum. Mr. Lubar holds degrees in Business Administration and Law from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has honorary doctorate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
