Chris Hardy's (MIET) career began in the mid 1980's with an apprenticeship at Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough. Chris gained valuable experience in all aspects of electrical engineering, from domestic, electrical installations, control system maintenance and design and airfield electrics amongst other areas. After Chris' apprenticeship he worked as an airfield electrician before being promoted to a technical grade, looking after the high voltage network (33kV and 11Kv) at the National Gas Turbine Establishment Pyestock. Nearly 8 years later, Chris Hardy joined SSE Enterprise Contracting as a High Voltage Electrical Engineer, becoming a DNO and private network SAP and gaining experience in project management and protection commissioning (Primary and Secondary). Chris also got involved with telecommunications and some design work. Chris stayed with SSE Contracting for 20 years as part of the Major Projects Team delivering projects such as new primary substation builds. cable diversions, fault locations and repairs before leaving and setting up Gecko High Voltage Specialists Ltd. in 2018. As a Senior Authorised Person, Chris' authorisations go up to 132kV (underground and overhead). Gecko High Voltage Specialists Ltd's skills are in high demand with clients in the Electricity Supply Industry. As a commissioning engineer, Chris can commission a wide variety of distribution / transmission equipment. Chris is also a qualified first aider and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. Chris holds a professionally qualified person CSCS card.
