With an MFA from Otago Polytechnic, Alex is a talented photographer and filmmaker. His ability to connect with people and places allows him to capture distinctive images in any scenario. With a wide client base Alex's images are compelling and diverse. An avid traveller Alex shoots for clients around the globe. Current clients include Delta Infrastructure, Aurora Energy, Otago Regional Council and Nom*D.
Driven and inspired by simple & bold design aesthetics Ben is an empathetic multidisciplinary designer who uses user-centric design and his own art-infused processes to develop products, services, art, and digital platforms. Ben has spent over 8 years in the creative industry and has a BAppSc in Design for Technology and Computer Science from the University of Otago.
With a recent Bachelor of Design (Communication), Daniel is making a debut into the creative industry. He is committed and driven to design beyond the obvious solutions and finds satisfaction by taking ideas and transforming them into real word outcomes to be enjoyed by users and audiences. His ideas are inspired by his passion for music and live event environments.
With a background in entrepreneurship and business development, Jo brings with her a love of problem solving and turning ideas into reality. Graduating from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management, she went on to develop and run her innovative start-up. Jo specialises in content creation, marketing communication, and digital strategy. She brings a sharp focus to her projects, developing great client relationships. Jo was a recent recipient of the University of Otago Young Alumni Award and the Ministry of Youth Development Community Changemaker Award.
With over 20 years in senior sales and marketing roles in both Aotearoa and Australia, Katie has wide ranging experience across strategic plan development and implementation, client management, sales training, and project management. Katie works closely with our clients, collaborators and partners to seamlessly deliver projects from across the marketing spectrum. Her practical and straightforward approach brings clarity to any sector, brand or marketing challenge.

As the Director of Walsh & Beck, Paula leads our strategic and creative direction. After 25 years of managing campaigns, creating brands, and helping businesses to grow, there is not much that she hasn't seen. Her portfolio of successful projects tells the story of someone who loves a challenge, from public health campaigns to helping people understand the importance of flood infrastructure, Paula's knowledge base covers a broad range of industries. Prior to establishing Walsh & Beck, she was the marketing and communications manager for award-winning architecture practice Jasmax. Paula is an ‘out of the box thinker' who applies a fresh filter to all our client work.
Creative director Paula Hellyer and photographer and videographer Alex Lovell-Smith run Walsh & Beck. Together they lead our team of branding specialists, graphic designers, strategists, researchers, and photography and video production professionals.
With many years in the industry, Phil is a creative and self-assured graphic designer who finds it immensely satisfying creating dynamic visual content. He successfully works across all areas of the design spectrum, from digital and print to project management and production. He particularly enjoys collaborating on a project, seeing it through from conception to creation.
