Colin Watt

Colin is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1994 and attained his professional accreditation prior to becoming a Partner in the Practice in 2007. His varied experience at Armours extends some 32 years since joining in 1989 and working through the ranks to his current position as the Partner in charge of our Kilmarnock office from where he manages the delivery of our Quantity Surveying, Project Management and Practice wide CDM services throughout the UK. Colin believes in retaining very close contact with his Clients and has a very hands-on approach at both Strategic and Project levels. He has become particularly experienced in the delivery of complex projects within the Healthcare, Education, Financial Retail, Sport & Leisure, Community, and Social Housing sectors and continues to manage multiple Framework commissions for both Private and Public Sector Clients. Colin has also been successful in the delivery of large-scale roll-out programmes and continues to be flexible in his approach to procurement routes, contractual arrangements, risk management and funding mechanisms to best suit the sometimes challenging nature of the modern development. He is committed to maximising value and sustainability within all of his projects, whilst reducing revenue costs, and advocates a collaborative working environment for best results. Having been a product of the system himself, Colin is enthusiastic about our Apprenticeship programme and thoroughly supports the mentoring and training infrastructure we have in place to develop our young professionals and maximise their potential.

Hunter Kirkpatrick

Hunter proudly originates from Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders from where, on leaving school, he headed north to Aberdeen where, in 1989, he graduated with a BSc from Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology. In pursuit of developing his career in Quantity Surveying, Hunter then sought employment in Glasgow, joining Armours in 1991. Becoming qualified in 1992, Hunter was made an Associate of the Practice in 1996 and a Partner in 2006. Over his years in Armours, Hunter has been involved in many projects in the private and public sector including city centre retail developments, historical restoration projects, new build office developments, insurance reinstatement works, industrial/commercial developments and, the back-bone of Hunter's workload, social housing projects. Hunter's experience extends beyond the traditional Quantity Surveyor for many of these projects in also providing the role of Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent. Over the years, Hunter has also developed, supervised and administered many Stock Condition Survey and Life Cycle Costing Exercises managing teams of surveyors, M&E Consultants and Structural Engineers to provide detailed stock information and whole life costs for various traditional and non-traditional building types.

Malcolm Carrick

Malcolm is a Partner based between our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. He joined Armour Construction Consultants in 1995 as a Graduate Surveyor, was promoted to Associate in 2001 and became a Partner in the practice in 2007. He is a Fellow of the RICS, a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and a Chartered Project Management Surveyor. He manages and leads our Quantity Surveying and Project Management services to private and public sector clients and is responsible for the management of a number of frameworks. Malcolm fully understands how crucial it is to proactively lead and manage a quality service to ensure projects are successfully delivered and remains very hands on in the delivery of our service. The vast majority of projects come from repeat business from existing clients and referrals and recommendations from satisfied Clients and fellow consultants. He leads our service within a number of sectors including Higher & Further Education, Community and Leisure, Conservation, Retail, Motor Retail and Private Housing. Malcolm also has extensive experience of challenging refurbishments within live environments and complex M&E services. Malcolm thoroughly enjoys mentoring and training. He is an active Stem Ambassador and Innovation Champion for the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre. In his spare time, Malcolm enjoys maximising time outside no matter what the Scottish weather throws at us including cycling, hill walking, skiing and generally exploring the great outdoors.
