Andrew Jobson

Andrew has been a clerk for more than 14 years. His duties are diary management and negotiating fees. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and football.

Angela Hodes

Angela Hodes is an established Court of Protection practitioner with extensive experience drawn from practising in all aspects of family law. For many years she specialised in declaratory relief involving decisions relating to capacity. Since the advent of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 she is well known for her focus on health and welfare decision-making for adults who lack capacity. Angela is regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor who acts for vulnerable adults. She also acts for families and statutory bodies. Her cases regularly cover challenges to decisions made on behalf of adults who may lack the capacity to decide about their own health and welfare, contact and residence; complex matters relating to an individual's capacity and deprivation of liberty safeguards, including challenges under section 21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Angela has been Assistant Coroner for London Inner West since 2009. She also represents both the families of the bereaved and other parties and public bodies at inquests. She is an experienced mediator (Regents College SPC accredited) and chair of round table conferences. Many of her cases are resolved successfully through mediation whether as mediator or as counsel for family, health and social care disputes without the need for judicial determination.

Clare Cullen

Clare Cullen is a civil and public law practitioner who specialises in housing, property and local government. She advises and represents public and private clients including local authorities. Clare began practice at a specialist housing set and has appeared in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court. Clare is able to accept direct access instructions within her specialist areas. Clare delivers training on housing and property related issues. She was appointed a Deputy District Judge in September 2021. Clare was junior counsel for the local authority in the Court of Appeal in Abdikadir v Ealing LBC [2022] EWCA Civ 979, concerning a homelessness appeal.

Connor Collins

Emma Godfrey

Emma Godfrey is a civil and public law practitioner with particular specialisms in housing, local government and property law. She undertakes advocacy, drafting and advisory work for a wide range of clients, including local authorities, public and private sector landlords and tenants, companies and individuals. She has experience of appearing in courts and tribunals at all levels, from the FTT and county court to the House of Lords. Emma is recommended as a leading junior for social housing in Legal 500 (ranked consistently since 2015) and Chambers and Partners (ranked consistently since 2018). Emma is also ranked for Local Government in Legal 500. She has been co-author of Tolley's Claims to the Possession of Land since 2000. She is able to accept direct access instructions within her areas of specialism. Emma regularly acts in judicial review claims with a particular emphasis on housing, community care and the provision of support under Part III Children Act 1989. Genevieve Screeche-Powell

Genevieve Screeche-Powell is a civil and public law practitioner, specialising in housing, community care, landlord and tenant, property and contract law. She has particular expertise in policy, often instructed in high profile and politically sensitive cases raising novel and complex issues of law. Genevieve is an accredited mediator with experience of conducting mediations in a wide range of disputes. John Critchley

Max Thorowgood

Max Thorowgood is a Chancery practitioner specialising in property, probate and inheritance, commercial and insolvency disputes. Max currently sits as a Judge of both the Land Registration and the Residential Property Divisions of First-Tier Tribunal, Property Chamber. Miriam Shalom

Miriam Shalom is a busy practitioner specialising in civil disputes with a particular emphasis on property litigation She has acted for a wide range of clients and always aims to provide her clients with representation that advances their interests and is efficient and cost sensitive. Nikolas Clarke

Nikolas Clarke is an experienced civil law advocate who focuses mainly on inquests, employment and personal injury cases. He is instructed by the full range of interested persons in inquests. Nikolas regularly acts for local authorities in inquests which raise concerns about the state or its agents failing to protect the deceased. This Article 2 ECHR inquest expertise means he is well-placed to act in related judicial review and civil claims. He is a part-time fee-paid employment judge and also sits as a Deputy District Judge. Previously he sat as a First-tier tribunal judge in the Health, Education & Social Care Chamber, hearing appeals in the mental health jurisdiction. Nikolas is a registered Direct Public Access barrister. Nikolas is an experienced employment barrister. He advises and represents employees and employers in the full range of employment claims and appeals, including cases of unfair dismissal, contract claims (including confidentiality and restrictive covenant claims), discrimination, harassment, victimisation, whistle-blowing and TUPE. In addition, he has appeared in a number of cases involving jurisdiction arguments.
