Job Titles:

I am passionate about making a difference in young people's lives. I began as a teacher of modern foreign languages in 2014. I've always focused on working in city schools and driving positive change where it is needed most. As a Teach First ambassador, i've attended and presented at CPD nationwide. At my core is a determination to raise attainment for pupil premium students. What benefits the disadvantaged, ultimately benefits all. As i've progressed through my career, i've been keen to help give back to the teaching community. I have reveled in leading teaching and learning for developing teachers, as well as more recently on a whole school level. I passionately believe that all teachers need to improve, not because they aren't good enough, but because they have the ability to be even better. I have a passion for lifelong learning, and I instill this in my staff and students. I joined Ellis Guilford School in 2016 and i'm proud of the journey we have been on. Working on the Teaching and Learning team, we have moved mountains to reach our Ofsted ‘Good' and i'm excited to continue this work as we move towards outstanding.

I am delighted have been appointed the new Principal of Ellis Guilford School. I have taught for over 30 years, many of which were as a teacher of English, prior to taking up leadership roles in 3 different schools. I have been a Principal for the last 11 years and have worked for CET for 6 of those years. My first appointment as Principal was in a large secondary school in Sheffield, which achieved an Ofsted Good rating. I then moved to Staffordshire to lead two secondary schools and a 6 th form. During my time in Staffordshire, I lead a school amalgamation programme, in which these schools became one, The Hart School. Following a Good Ofsted inspection, I have now moved to EGS. I am excited about what our pupils can achieve at the school and look forward to playing a part in Ellis Guilford's continuing journey of improvement.

I am incredibly proud to be Head of School here at the Ellis Guilford School. I joined the EGS family in 2021 to improve the quality of teaching and learning across our school. In my previous experience, I have led the quality of education in a number of secondary schools, including Quality Assurance, CPD, Early Careers Development and a number of subjects including Humanities and Science. Since my time at EGS began, I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing our children go from strength to strength. Our classrooms are great places to be, where children are focused on learning. Teachers at EGS have a wealth of experience in how best to deliver their subject. It is this that supports calm and purposeful lessons. I have been teaching for ten years. Before I joined Ellis Guilford School, I was a Lead Practitioner for a multi-academy trust in Nottinghamshire, working intensively with the geography curriculum across a range of schools and also improving the quality of teaching and learning. I also held whole school roles relating to the quality of teaching, academic transition and Early Careers Development. I led two large faculties as Director of Science and Humanities, resulting in much improved outcomes. I am an Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning at Ellis Guilford School. My role will involve improving teaching and learning, and ultimately outcomes, across the school. This will include continuing to develop highly challenging learning environments. I will also be monitoring and continuing to strengthen Continuing Professional Development, remote learning and working closely alongside the Humanities faculty to improve outcomes in geography.
