Andrew Hart

  • Group Financial Controller
Andrew Hart is the Group Financial Controller, overseeing all the financial aspects of the Group. He trained as a Chartered Accountant and moved into industry a number of years after qualification. He has worked in several sectors including professional services, insurance, banking, and biopharmaceuticals. Andrew brings a wealth of experience from prior roles, in forming robust processes for financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring stability throughout. He is involved in all businesses in the Group portfolio, working closely with his team ensuring smooth day to day operations, cashflow, and all aspects of management reporting. Andrew Hart is married to Wendy and they have two bundles of energy aged two and four, ensuring their house is always busy. Andrew is an avid footballer and heavily involved with the running of his club behind the scenes and on the field, he plays with the only slightly slower Vets teams.

Andrew Walker

Andrew Walker is the Group CFO, overseeing all the financial aspects of the business. He trained as a Chartered Accountant and moved into industry upon qualification. He has worked in several sectors including professional services, consumer, leisure, and construction, and complimented his finance qualification with an MBA from Ashridge business school. Andrew Walker brings a wealth of experience in working with start-up businesses and SMEs, forming robust processes to complement rapid growth, and ensuring stability throughout. He is involved in all businesses in the Group's portfolio, ensuring robust cashflows and profitable growth, whilst driving synergies within the diverse businesses. Andrew Walker is married to Michelle and they have five children meaning their house is always busy. He tries to relax by playing racket sports (tennis & badminton), running, and watching almost any sport available.

Danielle Ayling

As Group Legal Counsel, Danielle Ayling is responsible for the establishment of an in-house capability to oversee the Group's global corporate infrastructure. This includes managing external service providers and ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance are applied to all entities within the Group. Danielle was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2004. Prior to joining Stelling Investments, Danielle Ayling initially worked for a number of years in private practice, after which she spent twelve years working as an in-house lawyer. She was Group Head of Legal and Group Company Secretary for a multi-jurisdiction financial services business based in the Channel Islands for over a decade. Danielle Ayling is experienced in providing a wide range of support services to investment companies and trusts, including the delivery of fund administration, share registration and custodian services, as well as associated company secretarial, corporate governance and compliance solutions. Having worked within a regulated environment, she previously held a number of controlled functions approved by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. Danielle is married with two children and enjoys equestrian pursuits as well as pilates and tennis.

José Ignacio Alvarez - Chairman

José Ignacio Alvarez is the Executive Chairman of Stelling Properties Limited. Although he was educated as an economist, over the past decade he has focused his passion and energy on property development. Originally from Venezuela, he is based in London where he has developed a number of commercial properties over the years. His most recent venture involved establishing a modular volumetric factory in Hampshire, England which began production in early 2019. In his role as Executive Chairman of Stelling Properties, José Ignacio Alvarez establishes the strategic direction of the company as it delivers state-of-the-art real estate projects across the United Kingdom and Ireland. He prioritises innovation in all areas and is focused on always hiring the best talent. Under his leadership, the business has enhanced the urban fabric of the two countries, through high-quality builds and innovative design executed across multi-purpose projects. Throughout his twenty-year career, José Ignacio Alvarez has served on several corporate boards and held multiple executive positions within the property and infrastructure sectors in Venezuela and the US. Most notably, he is on the board of PeakGen, the distributed energy company enabling the transition to cleaner energy resources. José Ignacio Alvarez obtained a BSc in Economics from City University and is fluent in English, Spanish and French. He is married to Mariana, a medical doctor who also chairs Chamos, a charity supporting Venezuelan children through health, education and community development programmes. Together, they have four children.

José Miguel Alvarez

Originally from Venezuela, José Miguel Alvarez graduated from Imperial College London in 2000 with a Master of Engineering (M.Eng). Soon after graduating, he went on to manage Electricidad de Valencia, a Stelling family business established in the late 1900s in Venezuela. Throughout his career, he has taken on a number of managerial responsibilities across the Stelling portfolio companies. He is the acting Chairman of PeakGen, the Group's distributed energy company that enables the transition to cleaner energy resources. He also steers the management team of Trigon Hotel Group with a focus on driving sales, increasing profitability and ensuring return on investments across the group's hotels. José Miguel Alvarez has recently taken on the role of Managing Director at Stelling Modular, a state-of-the-art manufacturer for modular housing based in Hampshire in England. A dedicated philanthropist, José Miguel is Executive Chairman of Amigos del Hospital de Niños, a charity that supports a children's hospital in Venezuela; the hospital is a healthcare, teaching and research institution providing emergency services, hospitalization and specialized consultations to children and expectant mothers in need. He also founded Friends of the Children of Venezuela, a US-based non-profit which supports children's education and healthcare in Venezuela. José Miguel Alvarez remains true to his love of engineering. In his spare time, he enjoys making things and can often be found behind a digger, a saw or CNC router.

Rutger Duetsch

As Investment Manager, Rutger Duetsch oversees capital raising initiatives for the Stelling Group. He has secured debt facilities across various Real Estate developments, drives equity raising initiatives and is responsible for structuring joint venture arrangements within the UK Real Estate sector. Rutger Duetsch spends most of his time acting as a Strategic Advisor to the Stelling Properties Group, with a particular focus on new opportunities, acquisitions and asset disposals. Originally from South Africa, Rutger qualified as a Chartered Accountant CA(SA). Prior to joining Stelling, he held various positions in Growth Strategy at Deloitte Consulting in South Africa and Chicago, before working in Investment Advisory in Private Equity in London.

Violeta Mariana Alvarez

Originally from Venezuela, Violeta Mariana Alvarez graduated with a First-class degree from Imperial College in London, where she read Civil Engineering. She has a MBA from Cambridge University's Judge Business School. Violeta is involved in all the businesses in the Stelling portfolio, in a range of capacities covering both the strategic and operational functions. She performs a number of different roles within the Group, most notably overseeing the Real Estate residential portfolio of the Stelling Group, where her keen eye for design and enhancing properties comes into play. With assets located in the UK, Venezuela and the US, she manages the various properties and is responsible for the P&L, investments and Capex requirements. Violeta Mariana Alvarez has focussed on the re-branding and re-investment of the Trigon Hotel group offering in Ireland. Championing the motto "Passionate Pursuit of Perfection", she has been the driving force behind the change that was needed to deliver spectacular results and improvements in customer experience and the performance and standards of the hotels. Violeta regularly attends board meetings of the group's distributed energy company PeakGen, challenging the executive team when needed to drive innovation and support the delivery of annual plans. She is a non-executive director of various companies in the portfolio of Stelling Properties, a business in which she provides independent oversight on issues related to strategy, performance and Design. Through her passion for sport, Violeta Mariana Alvarez has recently focussed on sailing. Since 2016, she has competed in two World Championships and two European Championships, winning the Lucie Trophy in the 2019 Six Metre Class World Championships for the highest placing boat with a female crew member. She is the first lady helm to win a Race since the championships began. Violeta launched and financed a growing online archival resource for the International Six Metre class of classic racing yachts. Started in 2019, this collection of material has been sourced from the Six Metre community worldwide. Violeta Mariana Alvarez is an active supporter of the Garsington Opera Company which aims to enrich young people's lives through opera. The Alvarez Young Artist Programme, which was launched in 2014, supports the career paths of promising young talent and Violeta is proud to steer her family's relationship with the opera. The programme is unique in the industry, offering education, training and performance opportunities to understudies and emerging artists at Garsington Opera. Violeta is also passionate about protecting the environment, which is demonstrated in her involvement with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Environment Fund. She is a member of the steering committee for this non-profit that was set up to support sustainable initiatives that promote the preservation of the beauty and natural value of the islands.
