CARRIAGE WORKS DENTAL - Key Persons
After graduating from Leeds Dental Institute in 1998 Ali worked in general practice and private clinics in oxford and London before joining us at the Carriage Works 5 years ago. She has worked for more than 15 years in fantastic practices of varying sizes in Oxford, London and now in Cornwall and is passionate about treating patients with periodontal conditions. Ali firmly believes that we can make a difference to patients with periodontal conditions by treatment given at the surgery but more importantly by motivating patients to take interest in their own dental health. Ali's patients are aware that periodontal disease is an ongoing problem but can be stabilized and managed effectively. This will have a positive impact on the patient's dental heath and well being. Those of you that have met Ali will know that her professionalism , attention to detail and patient care is second to none which is why we are delighted that she will now be working alongside Finley Bason providing facial aesthetics. Ali has spent the last few years studying dermatology , skin remodelling to MSc level and injectables. Ali is also able to offer treatment for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) with a simple procedure lasting up to 6 months.
Ashley joined the team in June 2021 as a trainee dental nurse. In February 2023 Ashley passed her NEBDN dental nurse qualification and will be registering with the GDC.

Cath joined the team in June 2021 as a trainee dental nurse. In February 2023 Cath passed her NEBDN dental nurse qualification and will be registering with the GDC.

I gained my NEBDN qualification in dental nursing in 2012 and since then have worked between a mixture of NHS and private practices with a range of nursing and reception experience. I joined Carriage Works back in February 2017, shortly after joining I began working along side our principal dentist Fin. I assist Fin in complex treatments such as, implant placements, bone augmentation, sinus lifts and surgical extractions. In 2021, I gained my SAAD National Course in Conscious Sedation for Dental Nurses. As well as working closely with Fin, I also assist Ali who is our hygienist and facial aesthetic practitioner at Carriage Works. I have a huge interest in facial aesthetics and enjoy getting involved with treatments such as chemical skin peels, micro needling, fillers and anti wrinkle injections. In my spare time, I enjoy long walks, being at the beach and spending quality time with my family and friends.
Debbie qualified as a dental Nurse in 2005. She joined Lostwithiel Dental Surgery as practice manager in 2010. Since joining the team, the practice has put in a considerable investment into the future of the practice by relocating to larger premises in 2011 and expanding in 2017, to include a new private and referral suite.
Debbie is responsible for the day to day running of the practice and is the registered manager with the Care Quality Commission. Her aim is to ensure all patients and staff have a positive experience at the practice.

I joined Carriage Works Dental in February 2022 as a Trainee Dental Nurse. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Plymouth with a degree in Human Biosciences and then went on to work in a COVID testing laboratory. Since moving back to lovely Looe, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in Dental Nursing, allowing me to combine my love of human biology and working with people of all backgrounds. I am looking forward to continuing my training and expanding my knowledge of dentistry and patient-centred care.
Hilary joined the Carriage Works Team reception team in December 2022. Hilary was a hygienist for 21 years and joins our reception team with her wealth of knowledge and experience in the dental industry.
India joined the Carriage Works Team in June 2022
‘After working in hospitality for the last 10 years, I know the importance of giving a high level of customer service and treating every one with a smile and an understanding attitude. I am excited to now be starting in a new career, I really enjoy being on reception and interacting with lots of new people and within such a lovely team of staff. I am looking forward to starting my dental nurse training in the future.
Jack grew up in Plymouth, also living in Brighton and Truro briefly. He studied biomedical science before going on to study dentistry at Plymouth University. He graduated in 2018 and completed his foundation training in Lostwithiel in August 2019 . After a successful year Jack stayed with us as an associate dentist.
When not studying Jack has spent a lot of time travelling around the world. This included some time in Africa where he volunteered in providing dental treatment to remote communities.
Jack has now started a postgraduate certificate in restorative dentistry, become a supervisor at the dental school and is also supporting Cath with her dental nursing qualification ( A very busy 2021 for Jack! )
Jack enjoys hiking, cycling, rock climbing and surfing. He is interested in paddle boarding and scuba diving and would like to improve on these.
I joined Lostwithiel Dental surgery in September 2012 and gained my NEBDN qualification in dental nursing in January 2015. I enjoy working in a caring environment, something I have gained a lot of experience in during my time working as a health care assistant at Mount Edgucombe hospice from 2010-2017 You will find me either nursing in surgery or helping out on reception. In my spare time I enjoy taking my son Harrison swimming and spending time with my husband and family.
I gained my NEBDN qualification in dental nursing in November 2011 joined Lostwithiel in 2014, Since then I have achieved additional qualifications in impression taking and plaque and debris scoring and sedation dental nursing. When I'm not in surgery nursing you will often find me organising visits to and from local schools for educational sessions which include teaching correct tooth brushing techniques, oral hygiene and healthy eating. In my spare time I enjoys walking my dogs with my husband, renovating our house and volunteering with St John Ambulance.
I started working at the practice in May 2012 and gained my NEBDN qualification in dental nursing in 2014, Soon after I started working alongside Fin, assisting in complex treatment such as implants and minor oral surgery as I have a practical interest in these types of dentistry. In the past few years I have gained additional qualifications in sedation nursing , implant nursing and minor oral surgery. I am also now one of the practice first aiders.

I started here in the practice in November 2019 as a trainee dental nurse. I've always been interested in working in a clinical environment, and I'm looking forward to learning all aspects of dental nursing. I take pride in working hard, and with previous experience in customer service I understand how important it is to treat everybody how you would like to be treated. In my spare time I like socialising with my friends and also walking my German Pointer. Lois completed her dental nurse qualification in May 2022.
Nicola qualified from Bristol University in 2003 and has worked in general practice since then . Nicola joined Lostwithiel Dental Surgery in 2010. Nicola in particular likes treating nervous patients and endeavours to provide gentle and caring dentistry to her patients.
Outside of the practice Nicola enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and 3 small children . She loves walking the dog on the beach and going swimming.

I joined the practice in November 2022 after working in another practice for 3+ years. I completed my NEDBN in dental nursing qualification in June 2021. I have always worked in a clinical background as I am passionate about patient care. I love working within a team and being in a patient facing role. I am eager to further my career at this practice, and I am excited for the opportunities that are ahead. Outside of work I love to inspire healthy living, ride my horse and spend time with my partner, family and canine child.
Rebecca is our new foundation dentist from September 2022 and will be mentored by Fin and Jack.
Rebecca is originally from Southport in Merseyside, she graduated from Cardiff and is excited to start her career in dentistry with us at Carriage Works.
Outside of dentistry Rebecca loves open water swimming and recently did a 3k race in Cardiff bay.
After working within varying customer service roles over the past 10 years as well as completing my BSc Hons degree in 2016 . I started at Lostwithiel Dental as a trainee dental nurse in November 2019. I am very excited for this new career venture and am keen to develop my knowledge within dental nursing at this fantastic practice.
Sarah grew up in Cornwall. She studied biomedical science prior to studying Dental surgery at Bristol university. She graduated 2014 and since then has been practicing in general dentistry.
She enjoys spending time with her family, walking and yoga.
I have a solid background in Dental nursing, administration and receptionist duties (both Dental and GP Surgery), working in both these environments since1982, before joining Lostwithiel Dental Surgery in February 2017.
During my career I have gained my Diploma in Health Service Reception, NEBDN qualification in dental nursing in 2002 and a diploma in Medical Terminology.
In my leisure time I enjoys long walks, running and Canicross harness running with her chocolate Labrador Millie. I also ran the Bournemouth marathon in 2015.
Having moved to North Yorkshire after graduating from Bournemouth University in 2015, I began a career in Pharmacy where my passion of patient centred care began. I met my husband whilst living in North Yorkshire and would frequently visit family in St Austell and the surrounding areas. In 2019 we decided to finally move down to Cornwall and settle down.

I joined the team in March 2016 to begin a career in dentistry , since then I have completed my training and gained my dental nurse qualification. Since gaining nursing experience I have developed a special interest in cosmetic dentistry , surgical procedures and periodontal treatment which is something I hope to continue learn more about in the future . Before joining Lostwithiel Dental surgery I gained a health and social care NCFE and I have also worked in customer service industry so I have a lot of confidence with dealing with the public. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family , eating out and costal walks

I started working at Lostwithiel dental surgery in February 2015 and began my dental nursing training soon after. In July 2017 I gained my NEBDN qualification in dental nursing I really enjoy all aspects of dentistry & generally love working with people, especially due to my background in customer service. My favourite areas in dentistry are surgical but mostly aesthetics as I like to see the difference it makes in the patients happiness & to watch their confidence boost due to the improvement made to their smile. Recently I have taken an interested in the facial aesthetic side of dentistry especially now the industry is growing & with my knowledge of beauty from previous qualifications. Recently I have taken an interested in the facial aesthetic within the practice ,before my career in dentistry I have previously gained a level 3 VTCT in beauty therapy as well and an NVQ level 3 diploma in customer services. My hobbies outside of work consist of keeping fit & healthy & socialising with family & friends.
Zoe joined the practice in March 2022 as a trainee dental nurse.
