Our Earth Sciences research group uses an interdisciplinary approach to identify the evidence of natural and anthropogenic processes on Earth's stratigraphic record. Our projects mainly focus on: (1) Plastic pollution in sediment and fish of the North American Great Lakes basin and marine settings in the Canadian Arctic, and (2) Indications of early life and climate in Precambrian sedimentary rocks. We use a variety of analytical techniques to determine natural and anthropogenic sediment composition, such as FTIR, Raman Spectroscopy, SEM, ICP-MS, and XRF.
