Within the United States, Starbucks' licensing strategy is driven by two factors, population density, and income levels in a given location. For this report, we analyzed 13,083 Starbucks retail locations (7,889 company owned, and 5,194 licensed), divided into by postal codes. Average population density around company-owned stores is 6,412 ppl per sq mi, whereas average density around licensed stores is 3,174 ppl per sq mi.
