Doreen Cleave

As a Chartered Accountant Doreen has numerous skills which will be used to the benefit and advantage of the Trust. Previously, as Finance Manager of Network Waitaki Ltd she has some knowledge of the Industry and the constraints it operates under, due to compliance with the Commerce Commission. She strongly believes that we, the Consumers, have the best of both worlds, regarding electricity supply, low costs, excellent services and generous discounts when profits and capital development allow, and is thrilled to be a member of the Waitaki Power Trust and able to continue her relationship with the Company. Doreen's vision for the Trust is to have a mutually supportive and respected relationship with Network Waitaki Limited. A position that enables the Company to expand as required, to protect and enhance the Trust's assets as per the objectives of the Trust Deed. To continue to offer low power prices and to continue to produce reliability standards that are among the best in the country. Doreen is a local Chartered Accountant, a Justice of the Peace and also a Volunteer Firefighter. She has been a Trustee since 2019 and is currently the Chair.

Herb Tonkin

Herb is a former employee of Waitaki Electric Power Board, where he started as a trainee lineman in 1960. He worked his way up to Line Co-ordinator during his 42 year in the industry, working mostly around North Otago as well as many places around the South Island. Herb has lived all his life in North Otago with his wife Suzanne and 4 children. With a passion for the community Herb has been heavily involved in numerous local sporting organisations including becoming a Life Member of the Excelsior Rugby Club. He has been a Trustee for the Waitaki Power Trust since 2002. Herb is a former employee of Waitaki Electric Power Board. He has been a Trustee since 2002.

Jock Webster

Jock Webster formally retired from the Trust in September 2023 and has served for ten years as a Trustee. We wish Jock all the very best and we welcome Morgan Easton to the Trustee role.

John Clements

Job Titles:

He has been actively involved in the electrical industry since leaving school. First as an apprentice, secondly as a tradesman, thirdly as an electrical business owner for the past 19 years, and lastly as a Trustee for Waitaki Power Trust. John is passionate about an industry that has been good to him and would like to put back something into it as it faces changing times with new technology and outside interventions. John runs Oamaru based Clements Electrical. A former electrician at Otago contractor Delta, he has been a Trustee since 2017.

Lichelle Guyan

Lichelle was appointed to the Trust in July 2021. She was re-elected as a Trustee in September 2022.

Morgan Easton

"Morgan was appointed to the trust in October 2023. Morgan grew up on a family farm in the Waitaki Valley and went on to study at Lincoln and Cornell Universities for his Bachelor of Agricultural Science. He worked as a dairy industry consulting officer for 18 months before undertaking a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics at Purdue University, Indiana, on a Fulbright Scholarship. Morgan and his wife Hayley now dairy farm on the Waitaki plains - where there is a continually growing demand for electricity as farmers move from border-dyke irrigation to spray." Morgan grew up on a family farm in the Waitaki Valley and now diary farms on the Waitaki Plains and was recently appointed as Trustee this October 2023.

Sandra Tonkin

Sandra joins the Trust as Secretary in April 2022. Sandra grew up in Kakanui, Oamaru, where her family had a market garden and later shifted to Christchurch. Sandra returned to Oamaru which is home and has worked in a variety of sectors in Food, Health, Real Estate and Administration. Sandra enjoys being involved in the community. Oamaru is welcoming. creative, and quirky place with lots of opportunities to meet new people and to enjoy the uniqueness of the Waitaki region.
