Andrea Cairns

Andrea joined Waitaki District Health Services in 2005 and is passionate about providing a great health service for the people of Waitaki, as she has grown up in the area and lived within this community her entire life. With vast experience in various roles at Waitaki District Health Services, Andrea has obtained a wide range of skills, and a broad knowledge of the organisation and the health sector which she can offer as CEO. Within her previous roles, Andrea has been responsible for leading and maintaining a collaborative approach to the operations of the organisation. She has completed tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management and Leadership and is committed to ongoing personal and professional development. Andrea loves working with people and building relationships and believes that an organisations staff are its most valuable asset. She feels very fortunate to be working with such wonderful people who demonstrate a high level of commitment and loyalty to our community, contributing to the success of Waitaki District Health Services.

Colleen Myers

Colleen trained and registered in Medical Laboratory Science (Specialising in Cytogenetics) and also spent a number of years in Medical Research in Otago. Colleen has extensive experience in health, safety and risk management and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (endorsed for Occupational Safety and Health), also qualifications in risk management, auditing (including Healthcare) and HealthLaw. Colleen grew up in Oamaru, and after working in both medical science and health and safety for over 35 years, decided to return to her home town. She started working at Waitaki District Health Services at the beginning of 2018. In her role as Quality Director, Colleen is responsible for maintaining a programme that ensures certification under the Health and Disability Service Standards. Continual improvement is Colleen's priority to ensure a quality service is available for the community and with that brings a positive forward-thinking approach to the Hospital. Colleen enjoys working with a fantastic group of people in an environment that is supportive, innovative and challenging. Outside of work she has a genuine love of the sea and enjoys boating, fishing, swimming, and gardening.

Doreen Cleave

Doreen began working at Oamaru Hospital in August 2022 and loves it! She has worked in several roles previously using her qualifications as a chartered accountant including small accountancy firms within Oamaru and Network Waitaki. Doreen has a strong social conscience which makes an ideal fit within the Hospital. She enjoys the role good management can play in shaping trends and improving the lives of staff, patients, and all stakeholders. In addition to her work at the Hospital, Doreen is a Justice of the Peace and a Volunteer Fire-Fighter.

Dr Scott Wilson

Dr Scott Wilson is a full time Rural Hospital Specialist, having worked in various hospitals throughout Australasia before settling in Ashburton where he has been working since 2005. He is the previous Clinical Director of Ashburton Hospital and Clinical Lead of Dargaville Hospital, tasked with design and implementation of new models of care and enhancing services in these facilities. Among other roles, Scott has served 2 terms on the council for the division of Rural Hospital Medicine, chaired the New Zealand Rural Hospital Clinical Leaders forum, and been an executive member of the Rural Hospital Network. Scott is passionate about Rural Healthcare, service integration, and medical education.

Hugh Kettlewell

Hugh began working at Oamaru Hospital in August 2022. Hugh brings a variety of managerial experience to the role and can focus on processes and contractual obligations with a strong sense of social justice. Hugh uses humour and realism to get his message across and has an absolute focus on ‘patient first' outcomes. Hugh's role is to ensure all health services within the Waitaki District have the opportunity to provide a well-connected journey throughout the health system.

Kathy Grant

Kathy is Otago born and bred, spending the first 18 years of her life in Oamaru, before moving to Dunedin for tertiary education. Kathy has wide legal experience, having taught in the Faculty of Law at the University of Otago and working in private legal practice for over 20 years. Kathy was the Commissioner of Southern DHB (June 2015 to December 2019) and is currently a director of Southern Cross CLT Ltd, which operates an elective surgery facility in Queenstown. She has extensive experience in the governance of educational institutions having previously chaired both the Dunedin College of Education, Otago Polytechnic and served on the University of Otago Council. She is currently a Council member of Te Pukenga NZ Institute of Skills and Technology and a director of Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology Ltd, Wellington Institute of Technology Ltd and Whitireia Community Polytechnic Ltd.

Keith Marshall - Chairman

Keith Marshall has held a number of board directorship roles over the years. In previous ‘lives' he has owned Thrifty Rental Cars NZ, managed the last nationwide health reforms that created DHBs, and participated in the NZ-China FTA negotiations. About a third of his career has been in the private (corporate) sector. Most recently, Keith has been the Chief Executive at Oamaru Hospital, thereby being familiar with the history and issues facing the hospital. Previously, he has also been the General Manager at Wairarapa Health and Masterton Hospital, and was instrumental in creating the NZ Blood Service. In addition, he is a long-time public-sector senior manager having held Chief Executive roles in local government in Buller District, Napier, Nelson and Hamilton City Councils and has also held various contracted temporary senior roles such as being the deputy Director of the Human Rights Commission, Chief Executive of Grow Wellington and Deputy Chief Executive of NZQA. Keith's Mum lives in Oamaru and, accordingly, he feels that he knows the town well.

Sarah Walker

I am very excited to be a part of the Waitaki District Health Services leadership team as the Allied Health Director. The role is part time and provides leadership for the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Clinical Needs Assessment, Dietetics, and Speech Language Therapy services. My career began as a physiotherapist in rural Central Otago and has expanded into leadership of the wider allied health professions and research into the rural allied health workforce. I am passionate about health equity and ensuring good health outcomes for our rural people, rural whanau, and rural communities. My focus is to facilitate the development of highly skilled allied health professionals who are valued and well supported to empower our people and their whānau on their health journey.

Stuart Mologne

Stuart commenced his role as Clinical Director at Waitaki District Health Services Ltd in August 2020. Stuart has been involved in medicine for over 36 years. He has worked in general practice, emergency medicine and appearance medicine as well as being an educational facilitator for the training of registrars, pre-vocational supervisor for Medical Council New Zealand and supervisor for post graduate education for nurses. Stuart is on the executive board of Rural Hospital Medicine for the College of GP's. Stuart's special interests include diabetes, cardiology and cosmetic medicine. His hobbies are travel, movies, stained glass and cooking Stuart is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience in medicine through the training of doctors, nurses and other health care staff. Trevor McGlinchey

Trevor brought his children up in Oamaru where he, along with his wife Rangi, established and operated the Te Mahi o Waitaki Trust. He has since worked in Dunedin (tertiary education), Wellington (national advocacy) and Christchurch where he is the General Manager of Oranga (wellbeing) at Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu. Trevor is closely attached by whakapapa to Moeraki Marae. Trevor has a long history in governance. Currently he chairs Moeraki Ltd, the Te Runanga o Moeraki holding company and is a director of the cultural and environmental consultancy, Aukaha. Trevor has been a Ministerial Appointment to a number of government groups including the Welfare Expert Advisory Group and Ng ā Mataanga Māori. He is committed to wellbeing and communities. This commitment was recognised in 2019 by his being awarded a Queens Service Medal for services to community and to Māori.
