BLACK COFFEE SHOP

Black Coffee began on Good Friday, April 22, 2011 with a couple of Facebook posts and a group text urging friends to forego the crowds at the few cafes that were open and instead enjoy a home brew in the studio front room of founder Mark Free. Word spread quickly of this unique event and soon enough we were invited to curate a 10 day pop-up in the Somewhere Store gallery that August. Since then the Black Coffee banner has been applied to a number of events and concepts including service at the 2011 Victorian Barista Championship, the Black Coffee Orphans Xmas, the inaugural Lowdown workshop at Lowlands espresso and a four day pop-up in Outré Gallery Sydney. In addition to this Black Coffee operates weekly @ no fixed address, alternating between new and exciting venues around Melbourne and beyond.
