It started with a small garden, and then chickens, then goats. Then came a bigger garden, and more goats. Then a tractor, and more garden. We live a simple lifestyle. Enjoy gardening, music, outdoor activities, good food and an independent lifestyle. We are mortgage and debt free which allows us to pursue work which we enjoy... We purchace second-hand if possible. Needless to say we do not buy a lot of groceries. A lot of things on the farm are built with materials salvaged from dumpsters at construction sites. Scrap metal is fashioned into gates. Pallets are used for fencing. Wood which is no longer usable is burned to heat our home. We don't use nails anymore, deck screws are used over and over, things disassembled and reassembled into new items. The greenhouse was made from discarded aluminum frame windows (purchased second-hand), and old concrete forms (found in dumpster). We heat with wood and cook on it.
