KIERZKOWSKI LAB

The Kierzkowski lab is a part of the Plant Biology Research Institute, the product of a unique partnership between the University of Montreal and the City of Montreal. We are located in the Montreal Botanical Garden, one of the largest botanical gardens in the word... Our lab aims to uncover the molecular, cellular and tissue level mechanisms underlying organogenesis in plants. The lab's expertise in growth tracking, 3D-image analysis, genetics, and biomechanics is applied to understand how growth, patterning, and tissue differentiation interact in mechanically connected tissues to produce a diversity of shapes in organs. We hope that our research will pave the way toward a unified understanding of the organogenesis in multi-cellular organisms.
