Allen Thayer is the Professional Development Specialist on the Career Management Team within Graduate Business Programs where he supports candidates in career exploration and preparation. Angela serves as the Career & Employer Engagement Specialist for undergraduate students in the School of Business. Her goals are to prepare undergraduate students for the global workforce and manage the employer network creating more opportunities for students. Angela is excited to help students achieve their career dreams!
Prior to arriving at PSU, Angela worked with many U.S. institutions' international admission offices as a client manager at IDP Connect. During her time at IES Abroad, she helped college students improve their career growth by completing international internships. She has also been an international student and scholar advisor at Kent State University where she advised international students on immigration regulations and created an impactful mentorship program to increase internationalization on-campus. Her passion for helping students has led her the School of Business at PSU.
Angela was born and raised in Dalian, China, and moved from Chicago to Portland in 2021 with her husband and their dog, IChi. In her free time, you can find Angela hiking, camping or baking cookies.

Angela Wright is one of two recruiters within the Graduate Business Programs office. In her role as Assistant Director or Recruiting, Angela manages the strategic development and execution of recruitment initiatives for all masters programs and manages recruitment directly for The Healthcare MBA, Master of Real Estate Development, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Taxation and the Graduate Certificate of Taxation programs. Angela is a graduate of PSU's Master of International Management (2012) and currently taking courses in the Master of Science in Finance. She has been in her role with the GBP since 2014. Prior to graduate study Angela earned her Bachelor's Degree in French and Economics at the University of Arizona and worked in the private sector in customer-facing positions. Becky Sanchez serves as the Executive Director of Undergraduate Programs in The School of Business where she is responsible for managing the student experience in the undergraduate program. She oversees all School of Business undergraduate student services, programming, and operational aspects. When asked what she does, she says that she identifies barriers that exist for students and works to eliminate them or help students overcome them.
Becky grew up at PSU. Her father spent his career working in Facilities at Portland State and he instilled in her a sense of pride and appreciation for the work that PSU does for the community and for students. Becky has been at Portland State for twenty-two years, beginning in the PSU mailroom as a student employee. Becky has been focused on improving the student experience at PSU for the past seventeen years. Formerly a professional advisor and career counselor, she uses her experience serving students to inform the development of programmatic innovations in student recruitment, retention, degree completion, and career placement.
Becky also teaches career preparation courses, internship and practicum skills classes, and formerly taught college success courses. She loves helping students with their career planning and seeing them achieve professional success.
Becky completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Marketing in '03, a Master's degree in Counseling in '08, and a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Postsecondary Educational Leadership in ‘20. All of Becky's degrees are from PSU, and some say Becky loves PSU so much that she bleeds green.

Berrin Erdogan joined Portland State University in 2002. She teaches courses on Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, rewards systems, and performance management at undergraduate and graduate levels. Prior to academia, she worked as a corporate trainer at a large bank in Istanbul, Turkey.
Berrin's research focuses on two themes. First, she examines how leaders lead through the relationships they build with their employees, and the implications of manager-employee relationships for employee effectiveness, retention, and well-being. Second, she is interested in understanding person-job fit and misfit, with a focus on why and how employees find themselves overqualified for their jobs and the consequences of being overqualified. She conducted studies and shared results with organizations in manufacturing, retail, healthcare, education, information technology, construction, and banking among others, in the USA, China, Turkey, Vietnam, France, and India. To date, she has published over 60 journal articles and book chapters, co-authored the textbooks "Organizational Behavior" and "Principles of Management" published by Flat World Knowledge, "Psychology and Work" published by Routledge, and co-edited the Oxford Handbook of Leader-Member Exchange, published by Oxford University Press. In 2013, she was elected a fellow of Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology for unique and unusual contributions to the field of Industrial Psychology. She served as an Associate Editor for European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology and Personnel Psychology. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Personnel Psychology (January 2020-December 2022).
Berrin is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences. She served as a Fulbright Specialist and visiting scholar, and gave invited talks in Australia, Canada, Colombia, Greece, Iceland, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, UK, and the USA. A big fan of travel, she loves exploring new cities and new places.

Brian K. McCarthy is a member of the full-time faculty in The School of Business at Portland State University. He teaches Leadership, Global Marketing Strategy, Selling and Sales Leadership in graduate business programs - and serves as an executive coach for graduate business students. His areas of expertise include leadership development, marketing/sales, and executive coaching.
Brian holds a BA in history and an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Washington. He is a graduate of the Columbia University Executive Coaching Certificate Program; and a certified practitioner of several professional development assessments, including Meyers-Briggs, Strengthsfinder, Hogan, Intercultural Effectiveness Survey, and 360 feedback.
To remain close to significant business trends, Brian serves as an executive coach to high-potential leaders at companies in Portland and other West Coast cities. He is also the co-founder of Walkbright, a pedestrian safety company. Earlier in his career, Brian was the General Manager of a sales, marketing, and consulting business unit at the Microsoft Corporation. He held several management positions at Microsoft, including Group Marketing Manager and National Channel Manager. Before joining Microsoft, Brian was a sales representative at IBM.

Dan Krause, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at Portland State University. He received his BA from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University. Before arriving at PSU, he taught at several other universities including Colorado State University, University of Victoria (B.C., Canada), Queen's University Belfast (Northern Ireland, UK), Arizona State University (USA) and Michigan State University (USA). He has been a visiting professor at ESADE Business School, Barcelona, Spain (2017), Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK (2010), and WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, Vallendar, Germany (2006).
Dan's industry experience includes positions in quality assurance and purchasing. His research interests include inter-organizational relationships, supplier development, supplier involvement in new product development, and sustainability efforts in supply chains. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Supply Chain Management and the Journal of Business Logistics. His research has been published in several journals, including the Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Business Logistics, Decision Sciences Journal, Sloan Management Review, Journal of Operations Management, and the International Journal of Production Research.

Further back, he held various senior manufacturing and engineering management positions in electronic manufacturing industry,and IT management position in logistics and distribution industry and overseas factory startup operations in Kuala lumpur, Malaysia.

Before joining PSU, Dean Allen was a supply chain specialist in the private industry. He was a senior vice president at General Dynamics in Spokane, WA, and a vice president at 3Com Corporation in Salt Lake City. He also has been a supply chain and leadership consultant for companies such as Blount Industries, Hanna Andersson, The Standard Insurance, Fred Meyer Jewelers, and the Bonneville Power Administration.

Dr. Carlos Mena is the Nike Professor of Supply Chain Management at Portland State University. The focus of his research is the impact of supply chain management practices on economic, social and environmental performance. He has more than 25 refereed publications to his name, and his work has appeared in leading journals such as the Journal of Operations Management, the Journal of Supply Chain Management and the Journal of Business Logistics. Dr. Mena has also published two books; Leading Procurement Strategy (2018; 2014) and Delivering Performance in Food Supply Chains (2010). Prior to joining PSU, Carlos worked for Michigan State University (USA) and for Cranfield University in the UK.
Dr. Mena received his Engineering Doctorate and MSc in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick (UK). He also holds a BEng in Industrial Engineering from the Iberoamericana University in Mexico.
Dr. Dave Cadiz joined The School of Business faculty in 2015. Dave has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from PSU and received his MBA from Santa Clara University.
Prior to joining PSU, Dave was a Director at the Oregon Nurses Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on building healthy workplaces. Dave has also worked at a private training company where he managed several online training programs for Fortune 500 companies. Before settling in Portland, Dave lived in the Silicon Valley and worked for Cisco Systems.
Dave teaches Organizational Behavior, Contemporary Leadership Issues, Training and Development, and Human Resource Strategy. He is also the faculty advisor for PSU's student chapter of the Human Resource Management Association (HRMA). He is also actively involved with the Portland Human Resource Management Association (PHRMA) and the Northwest Human Resource Management Association (NHRMA).
Dave has a broad range of research interests, but primarily investigates the effects of age in the workplace. He has co-authored several articles and book chapters related to this topic. In fact, Dave brought his passion about age and the workplace to the TEDx stage in this talk "Generation No" where he discussed why we should not use generations to label individuals in the workplace. Dave also studies the intersection of behavioral health and the workplace and develops and validates training interventions focused on effectively managing workplace diversity issues. Finally, Dave is interested in additional topics including occupational health and safety, workplace mentoring, organizational socialization/onboarding, leadership, knowledge transfer, employee training and development, and employee well-being.
Dave's personal interests focus on spending time with his family and staying active by running and participating in sports including soccer, basketball, and snowboarding. Dave is also an avid fan of the Portland Timbers, NFL, and college basketball.

Portland State University is pleased to announce Sgt. Willie Halliburton will be appointed Chief of Campus Public Safety on July 1. Halliburton will replace Interim Chief Joe Schilling who will resume his role as CPSO lieutenant following 12 months as the interim.
Incoming Chief Halliburton has worked for PSU since February 2016, following a 32-year police career. Halliburton served with the Portland Police Bureau from 1990 until his retirement in 2016. A graduate of Kansas State University, he's held a variety of patrol and special assignment positions. While serving with PPB, Halliburton was active in the community and continues to promote the philosophy of community policing - the foundation of his entire career.
"I believe deeply that safety comes from developing relationships in the community and treating people with respect," Halliburton said. "My ultimate goal as Chief, is to build trust between CPSO and the PSU community - staff, faculty and particularly students. I recognize the need for change and to honestly address the concerns of the PSU community."
