Dr. Gutierrez joined the Laboratory as a research associate in 2018. His work is focused on the self-administration of opioids via vapor inhalation and on lasting behavioral consequences of repeated exposure to stimulants. Arnold was awarded the highly competitive UCSD Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2020.

Dr. Nguyen joined the Laboratory as a research associate in 2015. His work focuses on the effects of oxycodone self-administration, vapor inhalation delivery of various drugs of abuse and the effects of substituted cathinone stimulants. Jacques was selected as a 2017 Washington Fellow by the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Jacques was awarded the prestigious Stephen G. Holtzman Travel Award from CPDD in 2019. Jacques was awarded the K99/R00 Pathways to Independence award in 2019.

Michael A. Taffe

Dr. Taffe received his bachelor's degree from the Colorado College in 1990 and then began graduate studies in the Department of Psychology at UCSD. Upon earning his Ph.D. in 1995 he completed postdoctoral work in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD and in the Department of Neuropharmacology at The Scripps Research Institute. He then started his own lab at The Scripps Research Institute in 2000 with a focus on the behavioral effects of drugs of abuse. Shawn M. Aarde
