Yo-waste is a technology-based waste management startup in Uganda that helps communities and businesses to become more sustainable through its range of technologies such as cloud and mobile based innovative applications that connects different waste management players... Our mission is to build zero waste communities, one city at a time. This starts by making sure waste never ends up in illegal dumps in our communities but rather goes to re-using & recycling. We believe technology is important for creating an effective and transparent circular waste company in Africa... The yo-waste idea was inspired by the personal experiences of one of the team Co-founder, Martin. Martin grew up from an upcountry home (in Hoima) before moving to live with his aunt in the city suburbs of Kampala where he witnessed the pain first hand that a lot of households & businesses in urban areas go through to manage their waste.
