Adriane Burns is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board certified by the American Associating of Nurse Practitioners. She is a native of Bakersfield, obtaining her nursing education from both, Bakersfield College and California State University Bakersfield. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing. Adriane brings wealth of experience and knowledge to our team, as she spent years as a Certified Critical Care Nurse. She also has spent time working in a cardiothoracic critical care unit in Southern California. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Adriane has worked in primary family practice.
completing his bachelors, he was accepted to Loma Linda University, School of Medicine in 1979, and four years thereafter joined the Hinsdale Family Practice residency program. In 1986 Dr. Kubo, receiving his board certification in Family Practice, commenced as a Staff Physician for Mid-Carolina Medical Center in North Carolina. Dr. Kubo moved to Bakersfield in 1990 to work at several local hospitals and ventured into opening a private practice in 1992, which eventually burgeoned into Golden Valley Medical Associates. Since then Dr. Kubo has built a terrifically thriving practice that is highly valued by its patients.
In medical school, Dr. Kubo participated in various research programs, including neurosurgery and clinical statistics. He has co-authored clinical studies and has been the recipient of multiple academic and medical awards. Dr. Kubo has held various hospital committee positions and was on the steering committee for the formation of GEMCare. As a senior physician in family medicine, Dr. Kubo is appreciated by his patients for the time and consideration he provides during visits.
As a grandfather, Dr. Kubo cherishes family time and in his leisure enjoys racquetball, music, ethnic cuisine, and travelling.

Deanna received her Associate Degree in Nursing (RN) in Bakersfield California in 1983, and her Family Nurse Practitioner certification at Stanford University's Primary Care Program for Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant in 2000.
As a nurse practitioner, Deanna has had an extensive and dedicated career serving the medical needs of her community since 1985. Over the 35 years, Deanna has acquired expertise in numerous medical fields, the culmination of which she now brings to her work at Golden Valley Medical Associates.
Deanna continues to follow her passion of educating and treating her patients, as she is a strong advocate of the philosophy that knowledge empowers all of us to live our healthiest and most meaningful life.
In addition to her zeal for medicine, Deanna loves to take the time to enjoy the beautiful things in her personal life, which include her family and mission work.
Dr. Ashokkumar Ghadia completed his Family Practice residency from Kern Medical Center where in his final year he served as the Chief Resident of Family Practice and Pediatric Departments. On receiving his Family Practice board certification in 2005, Dr. Ghadia joined Golden Valley Medical Associates in Bakersfield and has spent over 15 years with the Practice. He considers Bakersfield to be the one of the family-friendliest communities in California.
By offering ample time and resources to the clinical management of his patients, Dr. Ghadia remains passionate in serving the community. As highly skilled Family Practitioner, Dr. Ghadia is a well-regarded Physician amongst his colleagues and he is frequently commended by his patients for his compassion and dedication.
With two children in high school, Dr. Ghadia relishes the time spent with them and his wife by either watching movies, travelling, or simply sitting down for a meal together.
Dr. Cameron Chang graduated with a B.Sc. in Biology from University of California, Riverside and completed his medical schooling in 2009. Thereafter, Dr. Chang was accepted to the three years Internal Medicine Residency Program at Kern Medical Center, which he completed in 2012. After receiving his board certification in Internal Medicine, Dr. Chang joined the Golden State Hospitalists group.
Dr. Chang was recognized for his strong clinical acumen during his residency at Kern Medical Center with the Internal Medicine Resident of the Year award in 2011. Additionally, he engaged in various clinical research projects and presented the findings at research conferences and journals. Over the years as a hospitalist, Dr. Chang has gained expertise in managing and delivering the highest quality care to chronically and acutely ill patients presenting with multiple medical conditions.
Dr. Chang takes pleasure in spending time with his family and is passionate about travelling, discovering, and learning about new cultures.
Dr. Chioma Ugoh completed her medical degree and internship from Nigeria in 2003. After her shift to the US, she was accepted to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Kern Medical Center. Dr. Ugoh became a board certified Internist in 2009 and thereafter joined Central California Hospitalist group. In 2010, Golden State Hospitalist group hired Dr. Ugoh as a hospitalist and appointed her as the Corporate Secretary.
Dr. Ugoh ranked in the top 10 graduates from her medical school. With a strong academic background, she engaged in various research projects at Kern Medical Center. As a researcher, she has presented at various medical conferences on subject matter such as Infectious Disease and Critical Care Medicine. As a hospitalist, Dr. Ugoh is highly skilled in creating treatment plans for hospitalized patients. Additionally she organizes a multidisciplinary team of clinicians to assist in more complicated cases. By structuring strategies to improve patient health, Dr. Ugoh not only assesses and manages patients, but also endeavors to introduce lifestyle changes to promote better health.
On her free time, Dr. Ugoh enjoys travelling and experiencing new cultures and ethnic cuisines. She takes every opportunity to spend time with her family.
Dr. Kirit Desai completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 1982 from Edgewater Hospital in Illinois. Thereafter, he had a short stint as an ER physician before joining the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at Columbus Hospital in Illinois. On finishing Cardiovascular training, he practiced at El Centro Hospital in California. Dr. Desai also specializes in Cardiac CT, diagnosis of cardiac conditions by CT scan. Grateful for the warm California climate, Dr. Desai finally established roots in Bakersfield.
In his endeavor to improve patient lives, Dr. Desai ensures that each of his patients is afforded the most effective treatment regimen. He combines both non-invasive and surgical interventions for managing cardiovascular cases. Over the 35 years of practice, Dr. Desai has encountered an abundant amount of complex cases which he has evaluated and treated successfully.
Dr. Lorene Rodriguez completed her Family Medicine residency from Emory University, School of Medicine and continued on at Emory to pursue Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine. Following her fellowship, Dr. Rodriguez remained in Georgia for several years practicing as an Attending Physician and Medical Director at a senior medical center. Dr. Rodriguez and her family consider Bakersfield home after many years of hop scotching the country.
As a testament to her affinity for medicine, Dr. Rodriguez first started her career as registered nurse and after six fulfilling years chose to attend medical school. She currently enjoys the accelerated pace as an Urgent Care provider, but above all Dr. Rodriguez appreciates engaging with all ages during her daily practice.
With every opportunity afforded, Dr. Rodriguez spends her time with family and friends. Her hobbies include music and experimenting with different cuisines.
Dr. Muhammad Ashraf-Alim completed his Internal Medicine residency from Wayne State University and School of Medicine in 1995. Thereafter, he was accepted to Pulmonary, Sleep Disorder, and Critical Care Fellowship program at UCLA. On becoming Board Certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Ashraf-Alim chose Bakersfield to settle as a private practitioner.
Dr. Ashraf-Alim has served as consultant of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Disorder Medicine at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, Mercy Truxtun Hospital, and Bakersfield Heart Hospital. In his role as Chief Fellow, Dr. Ashraf-Alim was recognized for his ability to guide and mentor residents and medical students. Dr. Ashraf-Alim takes great interest in the management of patients with chronic pulmonary disorders and those in need of critical care in the hospital setting.
Dr. Ashraf-Alim is particularly fond of cricket and attempts in his free time to keep up with major International Test Cricket matches. He enjoys travelling with his family to explore new cultures and cuisines.
Dr. Parikshat Sharma completed his medical degree and internship from India in 2002. After moving to the United States, he engaged in a two year clinical research program in movement disorders at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. On becoming board certified, Dr. Sharma commenced medical practice as a hospitalist for Central California Hospitalist group. He then went on to establish the Golden State Hospitalists group for which he serves as the Medical Director.
For all his professional and academic achievements and research, Dr. Sharma is most comfortable in the hospital setting where he rounds on patients and stabilizes the health of his patients. Dr. Sharma has a passion for managing complex admissions and challenges himself by bringing together the best care team of doctors and nurses to deliver an effective, comprehensive care plan and clinical intervention. On a daily basis, Dr. Sharma communicates with family members to provide comfort and update on patient status.
On his free time, Dr. Sharma enjoys listening to music, traveling with his family and being outdoors with his two sons.

Dr. Sanjiv Sharma completed his Internal Medicine Residency from Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard and Boston University School of Medicine in Boston after graduation and post-graduation from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. He completed Cardiology Fellowship from UCLA/West Los Angeles VA and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles. Dr. Sharma is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. He joined the elite group of his peers from Cedars at Central Cardiology in 2000.
Besides being exceptionally trained, he is experienced in interventional cardiology, practicing coronary and peripheral interventions including carotid stenting and aortic aneurysm endovascular stent graft repair. Dr. Sharma has been a pioneer researcher, conducting many research trials and proposing many original ideas and inventions. He has presented his work in conferences, published widely in top journals and has authored numerous book chapters. He serves on the editorial board and reviews many journals as well as holds patents in the field of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. From his clinical research and publications, Dr. Sharma has been successful in implementing treatment strategies and improving patient care. He has been listed in Marquis Who's Who in America, Science and Engineering World.
Dr. Sharma has a passion for travel-from hiking in the Sequoias to chasing Northern lights in Alaska . Dr. Sharma brings academic and research expertise to Central Cardiology Medical Center.

Dr. Sarabjeet Singh pursued his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiovascular Fellowship at Chicago School of Medicine. Upon finishing Cardiovascular training, he was accepted to Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Singh became Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology in 2011 and then shortly thereafter moved to Bakersfield, CA to practice.
Both in Residency and Fellowship, Dr. Singh was selected as a clinical instructor and Chief Cardiology Fellow to guide and mentor Cardiology fellows, Internal Medicine residents, and medical students. He has a passion for managing complex cardiovascular cases and either through performing clinical or surgical intervention he impacts the lives of his patients for the positive. Dr. Singh has published over 30 clinical research studies, authored several book chapters, and has presented his findings at various Cardiovascular Conferences.
Dr. Singh decompresses from his hectic schedule by traveling and spending time with his family. He also understands the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and often spends time at the gym. He brings warmth and laughter to the collegial environment at Central Cardiology Medical Center (CCMC) with his wit and humor.
Dr. Sukhpreet Sidhu completed his medical degree in 2013 and afterwards was accepted to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Kern Medical Center. On becoming a board certified Internist in 2016, Dr. Sidhu joined Golden State Hospitalists group.
Dr. Sidhu started his clinical journey in Pharmaceutical Sciences and then went on to enroll in the San Joaquin Valley College Physician Assistant Program. As a Physician Assistant, he practiced Primary and Pediatric Care for several years. With a strong academic and clinical background, he ultimately pursued Medicine and gained experience in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Neurology, ER, General Surgery, Pulmonology and Psychiatry. While in residency, Dr. Sidhu engaged in research and presented on subject matter such as Gastrointestinal Bleeds. As a Hospitalist, Dr. Sidhu plays a significant role in managing and improving the health of hospitalized patients.
During his time off, Dr. Sidhu enjoys his time with his wife and newly born daughter.
Dr. Vinutha Chandrasekaran graduated with a B.Sc. in Biology from University of California, Irvine and went on to complete her medical degree in 2011. Soon after, Dr. Chandrasekaran joined the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Kern Medical Center and she became board certified in Internal Medicine in 2014. Thereafter, she became part of the Golden State Hospitalists group.
With a strong academic background and work ethic, Dr. Chandrasekaran was the recipient of Excellence in Research Award at University of California, Irvine. While in residency, Dr. Chandrasekaran was appointed as the Chief Resident where she led and mentored medical students and residents. Additionally, she participated in Coccidioidal Meningitis research, a highly prevalent illness in Kern County. As a Hospitalist, Dr. Chandrasekaran primary focus is on stabilizing her patients and providing the best outcome on discharge.

Dr. William F. Baker attended Foothill High School and Bakersfield College and graduated from the University of California, Irvine Medical School in 1975. He remained at UC Irvine to pursue an Internal Medicine residency and became Board Certified in 1978. He also has added qualification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine and is certified by the International Board of Thrombosis, Hemostasis, and Vascular Medicine. Dr. Baker is a Fellow of American College of Physicians. Dr. Baker returned to Bakersfield in 1978 entering the private practice of Internal Medicine.
While teaching at Kern Medical Center for over 20 years, Dr. Baker was appointed as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Additionally, he has served as Chief of Medicine and Chief of Staff at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. Dr. Baker established the Cardiac Rehabilitation at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital in 1982 and was the Director until 2015 when he became the Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. In recognizing his ability to manage patients with complex illnesses, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital has bestowed on him the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Baker takes great interest in the management of patients with Internal Medicine, Sports Medicine, and blood clotting problems. During his career, Dr. Baker has published over 35 peer-reviewed medical journal articles, authored book chapters, and has been recognized for excellence in teaching medical students, residents, nurses and community physicians.
Dr. Baker enjoys fly fishing, playing golf, travelling, and camping. As an adoring grandfather, he cherishes leisure time with his wife Sharon and eight grandchildren. For over forty years, he has served as the Team Physician for Bakersfield College and can be seen on the sidelines at most games. Dr. Baker has received numerous awards including induction into the Foothill High School Hall of Fame, Kern County Bob Ellis Sports Hall of Fame and has received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Bakersfield College Foundation. He is also a recipient of the Kern High School District Jim Burke Light and Liberty Award, for meritorious service to the cause of education in Kern County.

Eleanor Leal is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the state of California to provide family centered healthcare to all spectrum of ages. Eleanor attended California State University Bakersfield and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Walden University for her Master of Science in Nursing.
Eleanor has practiced at Kern Medical Center and Adventist Health Bakersfield for many years in the intensive care unit. She has played an integral role in her patients' lives. Her commitment in managing her patients' wellbeing reflects her passion for clinical medicine.
On her free time, Eleanor enjoys traveling and has picked up a recent hobby of golf.
Dr. Sharma graduated from Government Medical College Amritsar, in 1992 and has been in practice for 26 years. She completed Family Practice residency from Kern Medical Center in 2004. For the more than 10 years, Dr. Sharma has been taking care of Bakersfield families.
Inspired by her parents, both of whom were in the medical field, she chose family practice for the simple reason that it allows her to engage with patients ranging from newborns to grandparents. Patients have an affinity for Dr. Sharma, because of her nurturing and attentive nature.
In leisure, Dr. Sharma cherishes excursions with her family, sketching still life, reading, listening to classical music and taking nature walks. Dr. Sharma and her family have lived in Bakersfield since 2001.

Idalia C. Ablin is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and licensed by the state of California to provide family-centered healthcare to all spectrum of ages. As a Bakersfield resident, she attended California State University to earn her BSN in nursing in 1999 and then continued on at CSUB to complete Nurse Practitioner training in 2001.
Since that time, she has accumulated over 18 years of nursing experience and education in various areas of patient care (Home Health, Wound Care, Urgent Care, Family Practice, Workman's Comp, and Public Health). Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of common and complex health care problems beginning in childhood and continuing through the aging process. She has worked for various healthcare organizations in Kern and finally established Clinica Del Valle/Valley Family Clinic where she holds the position of the administrator.
Idalia has a strong nursing skill-set and strives to provide the best health care possible. She believes in building a trusting relationship with her patients and seeks to acquire a comprehensive evaluation of every patient by taking the time to understand their needs in order to structure the most effective health plan and consequently a better outcome.
Dr. James Foster Campbell attended California Lutheran University for his B.Sc. and enticed by the wintry climate of Fargo, North Dakota, he earned his M.Sc. from North Dakota State University. He continued his academic journey at University of North Dakota School of Medicine and on graduating, he chose to return to the warmer Californian environs to join the Family Practice residency at Kern Medical Center. In 1995, Dr. Campbell became board certified in Family Medicine and practiced as staff physician for several healthcare organizations in Bakersfield before hanging out his shingle for private practice.
His passion for an adventurous life drew Dr. Campbell to all sorts of extra- and curricular activities. Aside from engaging in an occasional gig with his band playing guitar and singing, he organized and chaired college fraternity Rush weeks and presided over the University Honor Society. As a research assistant during his graduate programs, he conducted bench research in monoclonal antibodies. For all his diligence and effort, he received numerous scholarships and recognition for leadership and achievements. Dr. Campbell is most comfortable in his private practice where he provides continuum of care to all ages and as a testimony to being an outstanding clinician his patients have time and again expressed profound appreciation.
Away from the office, Dr. Campbell still performs with his music band at local and national venues. On weekends, he may be found on the golf course teeing off, skiing or enjoying a movie with his family.
Jasleen Duggal, MD, FACP is board certified Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. She graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College followed by her residency at Chicago Medical School and Affiliated Hospitals. She then finished her fellowship at the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Duggal serves as Medical Director for the Bakersfield Heart Hospital Diabetes Center. She is also Subspecialty Education Coordinator for the University of California, Los Angeles and mentors the Kern Medical residents here in Bakersfield, California.
She started her own private practice in 2011. Her practice quickly grew as she saw the need for Endocrinologist in Kern County. Dr. Duggal and her staff at Kern Endocrine Center are very committed in the diabetic care of Kern County patients as well as being part of Clinical Research for Diabetic studies.

Jennifer Johnson practiced as an ICU nurse for 8 years and completed her Nurse Practitioner program in 2017. She joined Kern Endocrine Center with great enthusiasm to help Jasleen Duggal, MD manage her diabetic patients. Jennifer is trained for pump therapy and pump education. Jennifer is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the state of California to provide clinical care to all ages. Jennifer first completed her RN training from Bakersfield College in 2013 and then went on onto earn her BSN from CSUB in 2015 while working as an RN as an ICU nurse. Challenged and inspired by medicine, she continued her Nurse Practitioner studies at Samuel Merritt University.
In a short period, Jennifer has been exposed to various fields (Endocrinology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, OB/GYN, Family Practice, and Burn Services). She has quickly gained the trust and respect from her peers that refer patients to her for treatment. Her passion to help treat and educate our community about diabetic care continues to grow.

Kristen has practiced with Golden Valley Medical Associates since 1996 and over the 23 years has played an integral role in her patients' lives. Mariana Arambula-Damián is a Family Nurse Practitioner, Board-Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and licensed by the State of California. She graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from National University in 2014 and received her Master of Science in Nursing from California State University, Bakersfield in May of 2020. Mariana brings a wealth of clinical nursing experience to our team, having served as an ICU nurse and cared for COVID-19 patients, among others.
On a personal note, Mariana is a San Diego native and first-generation Mexican-American college graduate. She enjoys being able to provide a quality patient care experience across ethnic and cultural lines, which she accredits to being raised in a Spanish-speaking home. Mariana also studied and performed in a mariachi band (a type of traditional Mexican folk music) before attending college as part of her educational program for 8 years as a Vihuela player and singer.

Natalia Obando is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the state of California to provide family-centered healthcare to all spectrum of ages. Natalia emigrated from Peru in 2008 to attend California State University of Bakersfield to earn her BSN in Nursing with honors in 2014 and obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing at Walden University in 2018. Also, she is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Prior to joining Central Cardiology, Natalia worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner, an Operating Room/ Recovery Registered Nurse in inpatient and outpatient settings in different hospitals and surgical centers and a travel Nurse. Natalia has nursing experience and education in various areas of patient care including Neurology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, ENT, Urology, OB/GYN, and Pediatrics.
As a native of Peru, Natalia speaks Spanish fluently. Being able to interact with patients, families and community at the most vulnerable parts of their life makes her feel accomplished. During her free time, Natalia loves salsa dancing, cooking with family and friends and traveling to explore new cultures.
Dr. Patel attended Verr Nramad Surat, South Gujarat University Medical School in India. On arriving to the United States, he joined the Internal Medicine Residency Program affiliated with University of Illinois, Chicago. After completion of his three-year residency, Dr. Patel found an opportunity to move to Bakersfield and leave behind the bone-chilling winters of Chicago. As an established physician, he has practiced in Kern since 1990.
With immense passion for clinical practice, Dr. Patel takes the time to get to know his patients and render care based on the individual's life style goals. To maintain currency with new medical practice guidelines and treatments, Dr. Patel continuously reviews clinical literature. He strongly believes in effective communication with his patients in order to reach full patient compliance. At the end of the day, Dr. Patel will call patients to convey clinical results, brief them on what to expect before a procedure, and follow up on their general well-being. His "open door" policy and compassionate demeanor makes him approachable and endearing to his patients.
Dr. Patel takes pleasure in an active lifestyle, where walking and running are a daily routine for him. When not engaging in exercise, he enjoys reading novels and listening to music. Moreover, he loves spending every opportunity with his grandson.
Ruby Ramos commenced her career in nursing in 2006 as an RN in the Philippines. On shifting to Bakersfield in 2010, Ruby has been employed as a telemetry, medical surgery, and post acute nurse for several local hospitals. She became a Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and licensed by the state of California in 2014 to provide family-centered healthcare. Prior to her healthcare profession, Ruby owned and operated several successful service-based businesses in the Philippines.
Although finding her true calling later in life, Ruby has developed a strong affinity for the practice of medicine. Over the last 12 years, Ruby has gained experience in various clinical fields (Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, and Telemetry). Besides clinical care management, she educates her patients about their illnesses so they can take charge of their health and fear less of the unknown. Establishing a strong and trusting relationship with patients, Ruby conducts a thorough evaluation of each patient by taking the time to listen and understand their needs. Ruby uses evidence-based medicine to appropriately diagnose and treat.
In her free time, Ruby plans fun activities with family and friends. Her self-confessed indulgence is for Hershey Chocolate Bars and comedy shows. Her professional goal is to be a humble Nurse Practitioner who serves her community well.

Sara Bowen is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and licensed by the state of California. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University Bakersfield with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014. In 2020 she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Master of Science in Nursing from California State University Bakersfield. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Sara cared for patients as a Registered Nurse in the hospital setting as a post anesthesia care unit and step-down unit nurse.
Sara has spent most of her life in Bakersfield. Before she became a nurse, she was a 911 dispatcher and a United States Army Reservist. When not caring for patients, Sara enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her family.
