Dr. Angela Dos Santos

Alliance Fellow, Angela is Australia's first Indigenous neurologist based at the Melbourne Brain Centre at Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she also works on the Melbourne Mobile Stroke Unit. Angela will be a key clinical expert for our aeromedical plans and is co-chair of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Council. Her doctoral research is focussed on stroke in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Angela is an "ex-officio" member of EMVision's Clinical Advisory Board.

Dr. Christian Wight

Dr. Christian Wight holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and has over 14 years' experience in medical device development and regulatory affairs. He brought a range of orthopaedic implants and instrumentation from concept to market release in Australia, USA, Europe and elsewhere globally as Head of Development and Regulatory Affairs at Signature Orthopaedics, and has previously managed Corin's medical technology portfolio, including robotic surgical systems and software medical devices.

Dr. David Cook

Dr. Cook is a senior critical care specialist and anaesthetist at Brisbane's PA Hospital's Intensive Care Unit. His PhD in 2003 from the University of Queensland (UQ) Information Technology and Electrical Engineering school, developed prediction models using machine learning and sequential statistics. He is Associate Professor with UQ Faculty of Medicine and Adjunct Professor with Queensland University of Technology Science and Engineering Faculty. Dr Cook has published across a wide range of topics and disciplines including toxicology and pharmacology, biochemistry, statistics and modelling, epidemiology, process improvement and heath economics, and has a research interest in integration of information from disparate sources and the measurement of "quality of knowledge."

Dr. James Walsham

  • Senior Staff Specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital
Dr. Walsham is a senior staff specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. In his role as director of research within the ICU he is the site principal investigator in a wide range of research activities including large multicentre trials as well as industry sponsored trials. Dr Walsham completed his basic medical degree at Manchester University in the UK before moving to Australia where he completed his Intensive Care training in Queensland.

Dr. Ken Mitchell

Dr. Mitchell is a practising Interventional Neuroradiologist (CCINR accredited) who provides care, management and treatment of neurovascular disease, including stroke, in Brisbane. Dr Mitchell performs Endovascular Clot Retrieval in acute stroke that requires mechanical clot retrieval at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and other major Brisbane Hospitals. Dr Mitchell is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. In addition to his work in more recent interventional Stroke care, Dr Mitchell has close to 30 years' experience in the management of brain and spine vascular disease including aneurysms and vascular malformations.

Dr. Konstanty Bialkowski

Konstanty received the dual B.Eng./B.Sc. (Hons.) degree and the Ph.D. degree in wireless communications from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia, in 2003 and 2008, respectively. He was a Research Engineer with National ICT Australia, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, prior to joining the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland in 2009, where he is currently a Research Fellow. His research interests include near-field and passive radar systems, multiple element antenna systems, and wireless communications. He was a recipient of the Early CAREER Researcher Award at the 2011 Australian Communication Theory Workshop and the Highly Commended Presentation Award at the 2005 Australian Symposium on Antennas.

Dr. Philip Dubois

Dr. Dubois is an imaging executive and neuroradiologist. Dr. Dubois is previously Non-executive Director of Sonic Healthcare (ASX:SHL), former CEO of their imaging division and served as Executive Director from 2001 to 2020. He is also the founder and former CEO and Chairman of Queensland X-Ray. Dr Dubois is currently an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Queensland Medical School. He has served on numerous government and radiology group bodies, including the councils of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists and the Australian Medical Association, and as Vice-President of the Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association.

Emma Waldon - Secretary

Emma is a Member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Certificated Member of the Governance Institute of Australia.

Forough Khandan - CTO

Ms Khandan has over 17 years' experience in the development of regulated products in numerous industries including automotive and medical devices. Before EMVision, she was Program Manager at Nanosonics (ASX:NAN), reporting directly to the CTO, where she led a large multi-disciplined team of engineers and scientists across the business. During her 9-year tenure at Nanosonics, Forough successfully planned and executed highly complex new technology and product development programs and was key in leading activities required to define, develop, and deliver Nanosonics' new products including the second generation of trophon device from prototype to after-market release.

Geoff Pocock

Geoff has over 20 years' experience in commercialisation, corporate finance and strategy, and has specialised in the commercialisation and funding of early-stage research projects from universities and taking spin-out companies to successful ASX listings. Geoff is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Argenica Therapeutics Ltd (ASX:AGN), recently spun out from the Perron institute of Neurological and Translational Research, and he is the founder and former Managing Director of Hazer Group Limited (ASX:HZR), which arose from The University of Western Australia. Geoff has tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Law and Applied Finance and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Geoffrey is a professor of Neurology at The University of Melbourne and former Director of The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. His research interest is clinical stroke management. He was co-founder, with Professor Stephen Davis, of the Australian Stroke Trials Network. He is the co-chair of the EXTEND group of trials, including the recently published EXTEND IA trial of thrombectomy in acute ischaemic stroke. He was Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Stroke and is Past President of the World Stroke Organisation. Geoffrey is an "ex-officio" member of EMVision's Clinical Advisory Board.

John Keep - Chairman

John has extensive experience in managing both start-ups and enterprise level businesses. As CEO of Queensland Diagnostic Imaging, John grew the business to become the state's leading private imaging group and led the successful trade sale of the group to Mayne Pharma for $109 million. John leads the development and execution of EMVision's strategy and manages its research and engineering partnerships.

Patryk Kania

Patryk is a medical device executive with over 20 years of commercialization and leadership experience in medical devices, pharma, and health technologies working across the US, Europe and APAC, within sales and marketing management, and general management roles. Currently, Patryk is CEO and President USA of Field Orthopaedics Ltd., and has previously held senior roles at Smith+Nephew, Abbott, J&J Medical and Roche.

Robert Tiller

Robert has over 25 years' experience in medical device product design and commercialisation. As CEO of Tiller Design, Robert and his team, in collaboration with Nanosonics R&D team, developed the Trophon EPR device. That device underpinned Nanosonics success spring boarding the company to a market capitalisation of over $2 billion.

Scott Kirkland - CEO, Founder, Managing Director

Scott is the co-founder of EMVision Medical Devices Ltd. Scott has held several senior sales positions, including Head of Client Sales at Quantcast, a US-based technology company, prior to founding Kirkland Capital, targeting emerging technologies. Scott oversees EMVision's corporate affairs, commercial strategy and business development efforts. Scott is also charged with optimising the company's capital requirements, including further non-dilutive financing and grants. Scott is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Stuart Crozier

Co-inventor of EMVision's underlying technology, Professor Stuart Crozier is also the former Director of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Queensland. Professor Crozier's advancements in MRI technology have been used in billions of scans around the world and are now central to 65% of all MRI machines manufactured since 1997. Professor Crozier brings a wealth of experience in developing and commercialising medical imaging systems.

Tony Keane

Tony is an experienced Business and Finance executive with an extensive background in banking & business management and is actively involved in the business community through Non-Executive Director roles and finance advisory consultancies. He is Chairman of National Storage Holdings Ltd (ASX:NSR), a $3bn+ National Storage REIT. He is also an Advisory Board member for several private companies. Tony previously held numerous roles with a major trading bank principally in business, corporate and institutional banking. He has a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) degree and a Graduate Diploma in Corporate Finance, is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
