Dr. Adam Heenan

Dr. Alison Welsted

Dr. Alison Welsted is a Clinical, Health, and Rehabilitation Psychologist. She completed her Master's in Health Psychology, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, at the University of British Columbia. Her residency was at The Ottawa Hospital in the Mental Health and Rehabilitation Psychology stream. Since completing her training, Dr. Welsted has worked in private practice and with the Ottawa Hospital and Regional Hepatitis Program. Dr. Welsted provides psychological assessment and treatment services to adults with mental and physical health concerns. Dr. Welsted has a particular interest in health behaviour change (e.g., smoking cessation, weight management, exercise) and women's reproductive health issues (e.g., fertility issues, perinatal depression and anxiety, menopause). Dr. Welsted's primary approach to therapy is cognitive-behavioural with the integration of third-wave therapies, including dialectical behaviour therapy, mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy, as indicated. Psychodiagnostic assessment and consultation with other healthcare providers is available upon request.

Dr. Carole Lamarche

Since receiving her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2002 from Queen's University, Dr. Lamarche has worked both in private practice and public service. She is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and she enjoys working with adults and seniors in the following areas: anxiety, depression, grief, insomnia, stress management, post-traumatic stress, and adjustment to illness. Her approaches include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy.

Dr. Catherine Sabourin

Dr. Sabourin provides psychological services in the areas of clinical and health psychology. She graduated from the Clinical Psychology PhD program at the University of Ottawa in 2010, and she is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She works with adults with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety disorders, stress, bereavement, and health problems such as insomnia and chronic pain. In her practice, she uses primarily a cognitive-behavioural approach.

Dr. John Kowal

Dr. Kowal provides psychological services in the areas of clinical, health, and rehabilitation psychology. He completed a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa and subsequently worked at the Ottawa Hospital for over a decade in the areas of infectious diseases, mental health, and chronic pain. He has extensive experience in chronic pain management, both as a clinician and researcher. His practice focuses on assessment and treatment of chronic illness, chronic pain, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and other co-morbid conditions. He is registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. His theoretical orientation is integrative and draws on cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal therapy. He is also trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Dr. Katherine Herdman

Dr. Katherine Herdman is a psychologist registered in Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, and Neuropsychology. She is a graduate of York University's CPA-accredited Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology. She completed her residency at The Ottawa Hospital and also gained valuable clinical and research experience while working at Sunnybrook Health Sciences, Baycrest Health Sciences, York University Psychology Clinic, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, and in private practice. After completing her training, Dr. Herdman served as a psychologist at The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre, providing psychological assessment and intervention for individuals coping with illness or injury, supervising psychology trainees, and co-developing a Post-Covid-19 Condition/Long Covid program with an interdisciplinary team. Dr. Herdman provides psychological assessment and treatment services for adults and seniors. She offers a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space for healing and growth, and she aims to guide clients towards greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and resilience. Dr. Herdman uses an integrative therapy approach and draws on elements from evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). Dr. Herdman's neuropsychology expertise enables her to adapt psychotherapy to meet the needs of individuals experiencing cognitive difficulties. She offers cognitive intervention to individuals experiencing issues with attention, memory, and organization. She is also available for professional speaking engagements and consultation

Dr. Lisa Carswell

Dr. Carswell graduated from the University of Victoria in 1999 with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and she completed her clinical training in adult neuropsychology at London Health Sciences Centre. She is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and is registered for practice in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology. Dr. Carswell worked for several years at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus as a Neuropsychologist on the acute-care service and has a breadth of experience in the neuropsychological assessment of various neurological, medical and psychiatric disorders. More recently, Dr. Carswell worked as a Neuropsychologist on the inpatient Geriatric and Stroke Rehabilitation programs at Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital. Dr. Carswell has been involved in the clinical training and supervision of both pre and post-doctoral students, and she has taught at the graduate level at the University of Ottawa as a Clinical Professor in the School of Psychology. She is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society and the Ontario Psychological Association. Dr. Carswell provides services in the neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis of cognitive dysfunction associated with aging, acquired brain injury, neurological/medical and psychiatric disorders.
