Coach Frank Barnes

Barnes was awarded the 2016 ITA DIII Central Region Coach of the Year. He was also honored as the 2009 PTR Wisconsin Member of the Year, and in 2010 was honored by the Professional Tennis Registry again as the National College Coach of the year-across all divisions. In 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2018 he was named WIAC coach of the year. He was named the Midwest USTA/ITA Community and Campus Outreach Award winner in 2012 and 2006. He was also the recipient of the USTA Midwest WTA Rollie Mueller Presidents award in 2006. In 2012 he was selected as the WIAC All-Time Coach in women's tennis in conjunction with the WIAC Centennial Celebration. As a teaching professional he received K-Swiss national coach of the year honors in 2001 and 2002. At UW-Whitewater he has coached the women's team to 13 consecutive NCAA tournaments for the women and a streak of 11 for the men. Both teams have dominated their conferences over the past 14 years. The women's team has won over 100 straight conference matches and the men have lost just one conference match during that same period. Coach Barnes has been at the helm at UW-Whitewater since 2002 and has coached individuals to 24 All-American performances, 23 individual national championship appearances, seven Academic All-American honors, and 52 Chancellor Scholar Athletes. Coach Frank Barnes is known as one of the top coaches in player development in the Midwest. He is the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at UW-Whitewater, he is the director of the Warhawk Tennis Camp-one the best tennis camp operations in the nation and is the 12U Wisconsin District Cup team coach.

Grant Thompson

Grant Thompson started in 2018 as an assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's tennis teams. Thompson played for the Warhawks for three years from 2015-18, amassing 69 combined singles and doubles wins during his career. He helped lead UW-Whitewater to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2016 and 2017, serving as a captain in both 2016-17 and 2017-18. Thompson was ranked among the nation's top 50 and the region's top 10 in singles, and was regionally ranked in doubles during his tenure. Off the court, Thompson was a two-year member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll and was a UW-Whitewater Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete his senior year. He also served as the team's Nursing Home Visitation Program Coordinator. Thompson began his collegiate playing career at Division I Eastern Illinois University, starting for the Panthers in his year and a half with the program. In 2014, he earned an Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor after posting a 4.0 grade point average over a full academic year. A native of Hawthorn Woods, Ill., Thompson graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2018 with a bachelor's in physical education (health, human performance and recreation emphasis). He is in his fourth year with MTA.

Josh Krieter

Josh Krieter started in 2019 as an assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's tennis teams. He is previously connected to UW-Whitewater through the UW-Whitewater tennis camps, which he has been a staff member of since 2016.

Scott Butler

Scott Butler graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Minor in Business. Prior to playing college tennis at Whitewater, he worked as a USPTA tennis teaching professional and led the 10-under tennis program at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville, Minnesota. He also worked with the USTA Northern helping to run the "Northern Stars" training camp. Currently he works part time teaching tennis at the Wisconsin Athletic Club - Lake Country. His passion is working with talented and motivated young juniors and is in his fourth year with MTA.

Tim Hartwick

Tim Hartwick started in 2019 as an assistant coach for the Warhawk women's and men's tennis teams. He is previously connected to UW-Whitewater through the UW-Whitewater tennis camps, which he has been a staff member of since 2010. Hartwick played collegiate tennis at St. Norbert College in De Pere for four years from 2010-14. He played the Nos. 1 or 2 singles flight all four years and was a captain his junior and senior years. Hartwick graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's in biology and minors in chemistry and Spanish. Currently, Hartwick works full-time as the Tennis Team Lead at Wisconsin Athletic Club - Lake Country in Hartland. He is USPTA and USPTR certified and serves as the Junior Development Committee Chair for the Wisconsin Tennis Association. At his club, Tim coordinates the High Performance program and coaches some of the top ranked junior players in Wisconsin. Coach Hartwick is also the head coach for the Wisconsin 14U District Cup Team and is in his fourth year with MTA.
